Difference Between Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky Antivirus
Kaspersky Internet Security vs Kaspersky Antivirus
There are many security software available in the market today. Even the same company releases different types of security software that aim to provide different levels of security; Kaspersky is no exception. The two Kaspersky software that we would be looking at now are Kaspersky Internet Security and Kaspersky Antivirus. The main difference with the two is their intended purpose. Antivirus, as the name implies, is meant to fight of viruses that can wreak havoc with a computer and its files. But with the proliferation of the Internet, there are a lot more threats floating around. This is where Internet
Security comes in.
Antivirus does nothing more than scan for local threats to your computer. It can detect viruses, Trojans, worms, and many others. Internet Security covers most of this stuff while protecting the user against malicious sites. Internet Security would automatically warn you whenever you visit, consciously or unconsciously, a site that contains malicious software. You can then decide for yourself if you want to continue or not.
Another threat that Internet Security protects against is phishing. In phishing, a malicious site pretends to be a legitimate site and cons the user to enter sensitive information like usernames, passwords, and even credit card numbers. Internet Security would notify you if the site you are in is the real thing or a fake.
Parental control is a feature that you would find in Internet Security. This feature provides parent control on what their kids can do online even when they are away. Internet Security can block pornographic and other unsavory sites to prevent kids from visiting these sites. It also has the ability to log how long your kids have been online and what sites they’ve visited.
As you can see, Kaspersky Internet Security does a lot more than Kaspersky Antivirus. If you can only choose one and you spend any amount of time online, the former is the more logical choice. But because Internet Security does a lot of different things at once, it may miss on some things that the Antivirus would otherwise catch. So if you have the budget to have both on your computer, it is best to do so. Multiple layers of security is often better than having just one.
Summary:
1. Kaspersky Antivirus is focused on removing viruses while Kaspersky Internet Security protects against online threats
2. Kaspersky Internet Security is a more holistic defense than Kaspersky Antivirus
