Difference Between Crude Oil and Natural Gas
Crude Oil vs Natural Gas
Crude oil and natural gas are fossil fuels that are used for heating. They are both formed from the remains of dead plants and animals. Both oils have similar uses but may differ in the effect and outcome of their use.
Crude oil, or petroleum, is a flammable liquid that consists of hydrocarbons and other organic compounds found beneath the earth through oil drilling. Natural gas consists mostly of methane and hydrocarbons or ethane.
Crude oil and natural gas are used for transportation that make vehicles work; however, with the increase of technical advancements in manufacturing vehicles, the demand for crude oil becomes greater because most vehicles are designed to use crude oil than natural gas. Another point why most vehicles and machines are designed to use crude oil than natural gas is because crude oil is cheaper than natural gas.
LPG or Liquefied Petroleum Gas is from crude oil and mainly used for cooking and heating. It is mostly used in the city because the gas passes through pipelines connected to houses and buildings. Natural gas is also used for cooking and heating and through natural gas-powered ranges and ovens and natural gas heated clothes dryers, heating and cooling for central heating. It is also commonly called CNG or Compressed Natural Gas and is mostly used in rural homes that have no piped-in public utility services or that use portable grills.
Crude oil is also used to make cosmetics for women, plastics, rubber and the like. This is another cause why the demand for crude oil is high. Natural gas is used for fertilizers because it produces ammonia which is very helpful for the plants’ growth.
Natural gas is the cleanest fuel compared to crude oil and other gases because it produces less carbon dioxide. Burning natural gas produces about 30% less carbon dioxide than crude oil or petroleum and 45% less than burning coal. The demand for crude oil and natural gas is very high. These fossil fuels are very useful so it is very important to conserve oil so that there will still be some left for the next generations to come. It is better to use natural gas than crude oil because it is safer for our environment.
Summary:
1. Crude oil and natural gas are fossil fuels that are used for heating.
2. Crude oil or petroleum consists of hydrocarbons and other organic compounds while natural gas consists mostly of methane and hydrocarbons or ethane.
3. Crude oil and natural gas are used for vehicles, but the demand for crude oil is greater than for natural gas because it is cheaper.
4. LPG or Liquefied Petroleum Gas is from crude oil and CNG or Compressed Natural Gas is from natural gas. Both are used for cooking and heating, but LPG is mostly used in the city while CNG is used in rural places.
5. Crude oil is also used to make cosmetics for women, plastics, rubber and the like while natural gas is used as fertilizers.
6. Natural gas is the cleanest fuel compared to crude oil and other gases because it produces less carbon dioxide.
7. It is better to use natural gas than crude oil because it is safer for our environment.

Hi! This post could not be written any better! Reading this post reminds me of my good old room mate!
He always kept chatting about this. I will forward this article to him.
Fairly certain he will have a good read. Many thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing. Reading this article was helpful, yet you are saying natural gas is cheaper though I disagree. So you are saying people who live in rural areas are rich 😛
Very nice one. Thanks.
You can make Octane gasoline, jet fuel, from limestone and from potash rock! Modern cars, with their fuel injection, can combust jet fuel like regular gasoline! Who needs OPEC anymore?
React those rocks with Hydro Chloric acid making methane gas!
Electrolyse that 8 Methane into 4 Ethane gas!
Electrolyse that 4 Ethane into 2 Butane gas!
Electrolyse that 2 Butane into 1 Octane gas!
Condence that 1 Octane gas into 1 Octane gasoline!
Market to over polluted cities who would appreciate lighter smog!
Good article
You can electrolyse 25 Cubic Feet of Methane gas into 1 Litre of synthetic Octane gasoline or Jet Fuel! At the standard price of $5/1,000 Cubic Feet the 25 Cubic Feet cost only 12.5 cents! That leaves the electricity to perform the electrolyse of the gas into gasoline!
