Grapes are considered to be one of the healthiest fruits. Grapes consist of a lot of vitamins, minerals, fibers and fatty acids. Grapes are considered to be healthy for the skin, heart, and the blood vessels. Among grapes, the black and red grapes are considered to be healthier.
The red and the green grapes belong to genus Vitus but are different species. Both the red and the green grapes are found abundantly all over the world.
All types of grapes are rich in nutrients, especially minerals and vitamins. In fact, in terms of the health aspects, the black grape is considered to be the most nutritional. Most health experts and nutritionists recommend black grapes compared to red grapes.
Grapes also contain a high amount of antioxidants and large amounts of carbohydrates. Both the red and the black grapes are rich in quercetin and resveratrol which are antioxidants. When comparing the antioxidant content in black and red grapes, the black ones have more antioxidants than the red grapes.
The red color of the grapes is because of the flavonoids which are an antioxidant compound. But in the case of black grapes, they contain a higher concentration of flavonoids which give it the black color. As the color becomes darker, the presence of antioxidants also increases. This is one of the reasons why black grapes are more preferred.
Both the black and red grapes are known to contain three types of polyphenols called phenolic acid, flavonoid, and resveratrol. But it has been noticed that the black grapes contain more of the polyphenols. Unlike the red grapes, the black grapes are sweeter.
