Difference Between Tummy Tuck and Mini Tummy Tuck
Tummy Tuck vs Mini Tummy Tuck
Cosmetic clinics are almost everywhere! They can offer amazing enhancements on every individual who is willing to pay a price for a change in their physical features. Cosmetic surgeons do the operations on these people.
One of the most popular body procedures nowadays are the tummy tuck and mini tummy tuck. Are they the same or are they totally different? Let’s find out.
Tummy tuck or also known as abdominoplasty or repair of the abdomen is an invasive procedure. Mini tummy tuck or partial abdominoplasty, on the other hand, is said to be less invasive than the conventional tummy tuck. Sounds cool, right?
A tummy tuck is performed on individuals who wish to have firmer and sexier abdomens. In this procedure, excess skin and fat are removed in the middle and lower abdomen. A mini tummy tuck, on the other hand, is performed on people with minimal protruding fat and excess skin. Both procedures are usually sought by post pregnant women who had sagging skin and obese individuals who dropped so much weight.
In a tummy tuck, a longer incision is done from hip to hip. In a mini tummy tuck, the incision is smaller. Liposuction is also a part of the process. Then both procedures require suturing of the skin to close the belly. Recovery from a tummy tuck takes from 1-4 weeks while full recovery takes 3-6 months. In a mini tummy tuck, recovery is faster. The patient is released from the hospital a few hours after. They can also return to work a few days after. However, both procedures require the patient to avoid strenuous activities such as heavy lifting of objects.
Although the procedure is safe, the risk of death is high because the incision is large in the abdominoplasty. This may impose infection via penetration on the wound. However, it occurs rarely. A disadvantage in this procedure is the long and permanent scar. In a mini tummy tuck, risks are minimal compared to the tummy tuck because the incision is smaller. It is also said to be a scarless tummy tuck compared to its counterpart procedure.
The cost of these two procedures varies. It may cost from $4,000 USD up to $20,000 USD depending on the cosmetic surgeon and clinic.
