Difference Between Testosterone Cypionate and Testosterone Enanthate
Testosterone Cypionate vs Testosterone Enanthate
Testosterone is a steroid hormone found in mammals, reptiles, birds, and other vertebrates. It is the primary sex hormone and, at the same time, an anabolic steroid. In men, it is responsible for the development of male reproductive tissues as well as developing secondary sexual characteristics like muscle development, growth of body hair, etc. Testosterone also prevents osteoporosis.
Testosterone cypionate and enanthate are commercial steroids used in bodybuilding for increased muscle weight. Testosterone cypionate is an English steroid while enanthate is European. Both have the same functions and effects although some studies say that cypionate has a longer effect than enanthate. Testosterone cypionate is limited within the U.S. only which is why enanthate is known widely and is used largely by people since it is available even beyond the U.S.
Testosterone enanthate has a slightly faster release and shorter active life than cypionate. This is based on the carbon ester group. Enanthate has a 7-carbon ester chain while cypionate has an 8-carbon ester chain. The particular ester gives the testosterone its active life span. Its solubility in water and oil depends on its ester group. The more carbons the ester group has, the more soluble in oil and less soluble in water it becomes. Enanthate, with its 7-carbon ester and 1-carbon atom is lighter than cypionate and has more testosterone per gram.
Testosterone when taken at large can cause numerous side effects. It can convert to the female hormone estrogen by an aromatized enzyme; the process is known as aromatization. To stop this conversion, the use of a class of aromatized inhibitors is necessary to prevent estrogenic effects, such as: gynecomastia, fat gain, reduced fat breakdown, loss of sex drive, testicular shrinkage, and water retention. Water retention may lead to weakened blood vessels over a period of time because it increases blood pressure. As we age, the testosterone levels decrease leading to loss of muscle mass and strength, fat gain, and a loss of sex drive. Thus, testosterone replacement is a good idea to replace testosterone loss especially for middle to old-age people. Testosterone supplements in older adults may delay or prevent Alzheimer’s disease and other cognitive disorders, protect nerves, regenerate motor units, improve mood, memory, appetite, sex drive, improve bone mass preventing osteoporosis, and lower the chance of getting heart attacks or strokes. With this, it is understood that testosterone replacement improves the quality of life although caution must be observed when taken in larger amounts because of its side effects.
Testosterone is considered to be the base of anabolic/androgenic steroid cycles since it is highly versatile. Many tests are available to determine whether fat loss or muscle gain is attained. Enanthate is cheaper than cypionate. Many are wondering why; however, there are some thoughts that it is because testosterone with concentrated “T” or a high amount of “T” is cheaper compared to those which contain less “T.” The drug for beginners is cheap making it the perfect choice for those who want to use it to reach their bodybuilding or athletic goals. Considering its side effects, it is always important to consult first a healthcare provider before taking any drug.
