Difference Between Female and Male Brains
Female vs Male Brains
The male and female sexes have long been differentiated. They have always been the topics in debate sessions for decades. The size of the brain also differs from one person to another. In regular adults, the brain weighs an average of 11-12 per cent more in men than the regular brain weight of women. Women’s heads are two per cent smaller than men’s. This is because of the large physical build of the male gender. Males have larger mass in terms of muscles. Therefore, men also have a larger body frame that necessitates more brain cells to have power over them. This information does not necessarily recommend that females are less smart than males due to the size of the brain. Size does not matter when it concerns the intelligence of the person. It is the total percentage of the brain’s function that determines the IQ level of a person.
Women have four per cent less brain cells than men. On the subject of weight, men have more than 0.1 kg. of brain tissue. These data can be the basis why women are more likely to have dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease, than men. Although the two sexes can lose equivalent quantities of brain cells due to the disorder, the functional remainder for men is greater compared to the vast amount of brain cells present in both genders. This could avert a number of functional disabilities. Cellular attachments of males contain more nerve cells in the cerebral cortex, while for females, they have created neuropil, or synapses, among cell bodies which are composed of axons and dendrites. These structures permit communication to travel within brain cells.
The corpus callosum is said to be larger in female brains, which indicates females can transport information from left and right hemispheres quicker than males. Males have more brain controls in their left hemisphere whereas females have greater controls in the left and right corners of the brain. The hypothalamus controls the autonomic nervous system. A person discovered that the quantity of a particular nucleus inside a man’s brain is twice its regular size in straight males than females and gay males. This can be a basis of the biological differentiation among heterosexual and homosexual males.
There are two areas associated with language. The two areas of the brain are the temporal and frontal lobes. These areas contain the Wernicke and Broca’s areas. These structures are prominently bigger in females. This explains the fact that females are superior when it comes to language than males. The male’s dominant portion of the brain for language is the left hemisphere. For women, they can use both sides accordingly when it pertains to language which provides them a great benefit. If a female experiences an attack of stroke, if the most affected part is the left portion of the brain, then she will retain a few language features coming from the right hemisphere. The limbic system of the brain is larger in females than in males. This feature provides females numerous benefits and shortcomings. When a person has a larger limbic system, this individual is more aware of their thoughts. They can express their thoughts better than males.
