Difference Between T-Mobile G2X and Sidekick 4G
T-Mobile G2X vs Sidekick 4G
Both the T-Mobile G2X and Sidekick 4G were released at the same time earlier this year. Although they have some similarities, like the Android operating system, they also have some very distinct differences; the main one being the QWERTY keyboard of the Sidekick 4G. Retaining the general shape of the old Sidekick model, the Sidekick 4G has a screen that slides to the right and reveals a QWERTY keyboard in landscape. The G2X is a more traditional candybar that relies solely on the touchscreen interface. The downside to the sliding screen of the Sidekick 4G is the limit on its size. While the G2X has a 4 inch screen, the comparatively larger Sidekick 4G only has a 3.5 inch screen.
Another major difference between the G2X and the Sidekick 4G is the hardware behind it. The Sidekick 4G uses a single 1Ghz Cortex A8 processor and PowerVR GPU, which was used by other smartphones in previous years. This is weaker compared to the dual core 1Ghz Cortex A9 processor on the Tegra 2 chipset of the G2X. The processor and GPU is at the core of the smartphone and directly affects the performance of the device, especially when running CPU and graphics intensive applications like games.
The Sidekick 4G is also behind when it comes to the camera with a resolution of 3 megapixels compared to the 8 megapixel camera of the G2X. The photo quality may not be very noticeable on the phone but may be noticeable once you upload it to social networking sites and viewed on a computer. It is not only in photos where the G2X beats the Sidekick 4G but also in videos. The G2X is capable of 720p video resolution and even 1080p at a reduced frame rate of 24fps. The Sidekick 4G is one of the few smartphones that is not capable of recording HD quality video. The maximum resolution you get with the Sidekick 4G is 720×480.
Lastly, the G2X is equipped with more memory than the Sidekick 4G; with 8GB and 1GB respectively. Even when you consider the 2GB memory card that the Sidekick 4G ships with, it is still very low and most people would need to upgrade soon after getting the Sidekick 4G.
Summary:
1.The Sidekick 4G has a QWERTY keyboard while the G2X doesn’t
2.The G2X has a bigger screen than the Sidekick 4G
3.The G2X has better hardware than the Sidekick 4G
4.The G2X has much better cameras than the Sidekick 4G
5.The G2X can record HD video while the Sidekick 4G cannot
6.The G2X has more memory than the Sidekick 4G
