Difference Between Samsung Galaxy S3 and iPhone 5
The recently released iPhone 5 was probably the most controversial model in the line as it breaks away from the 3.5 inch screen size used on all previous iPhones. And this is also the biggest difference between the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5. Despite the half inch bump on the iPhone 5 screen, it is still nowhere near as big as the 4.8 inch screen of the Galaxy S3. Apple also refused to make the iPhone 5 wider since they believe it is the perfect width for holding with one hand. Instead, they made the iPhone 5 taller.
There is also a major difference when it comes to processing power. Samsung seems to be going at break neck speeds when it comes to increasing the cores on its phones. The Galaxy S3 now has four cores on it, twice of what its predecessor had. On the other hand, Apple is a little bit more timid with upgrading their hardware. The iPhone 5, like the iPhone 4S, still has a dual core processor but nudges its speed up to 1.2Ghz from an even 1Ghz.
Battery life is another difference between the Galaxy S3 and the iPhone 5 and in this aspect Apple was not short of amazing. The iPhone 5 manages to outlast the Galaxy S3 even though the latter has a battery with 50% more capacity. This is mostly due to optimizations put in place by Apple to reduce battery consumption. The iPhone 5 consumes much less power when browsing the internet and when playing videos. This is because the AMOLED display of the Galaxy S3 consumes more power when displaying white, which is what the most websites use for background.
Lastly, there is a huge difference when it comes to size and weight. The Galaxy S3 is 25% heavier than the iPhone 5, but that is not as important as the size difference. The huge screen forces the size of the Galaxy S3 to be quite huge as well. Some people may not have a problem with it, but those with smaller hands are forced to hold it with both hands to be able to operate it properly. Keeping the width constant is probably a good move for Apple since their old customers would not have a hard time operating the device.

The Galaxy S3 has a bigger screen than the iPhone 5
The Galaxy S3 has a quad core processor while the iPhone 5 has a dual core processor
