Samsung Galaxy Ace vs Galaxy Gio
The Galaxy Ace and Galaxy Gio are among Samsung’s offerings of more affordable phones that carry the baseline features of its higher Galaxy S series. In terms of hierarchy, the Galaxy Ace seems to be a bit higher than the Galaxy Gio. The main difference between the Ace and the Gio is availability as the Ace is already available in stores right now while the Gio is yet to be released. Both phones were slated to be released during the first quarter of 2011 so the Gio should be available anytime soon.
As previously mentioned, the Ace ranks a bit higher than the Gio. This is evident with the mere size of the screen. Although both phones have identical screen specs, that of the Ace is larger at 3.5 inches compared to the Gio’s 3.2 inches.
The camera of the Ace is also better at taking still pictures as it is equipped with a 5 megapixel sensor. On the other hand, the Gio only has a 3 megapixel sensor. When viewed on the phone, the images taken by both may seem identical. But when viewed on a large display, the image taken by the Ace may seem finer and contain more detail compared to that of the Gio.
Lastly, if you already own a 32GB microSD card, the Ace is for you. The Gio only supports microSD cards that are up to 16GB in capacity. This minute difference between the two may seem insignificant, but it is better to know this beforehand than to suffer the result of not being able to use your 32GB memory card.
Aside from the differences stated above, the two phones are pretty much identical. They both have the same processor and chipset. They both also have a paltry internal memory which is just over 150MB. Given that the Gio is still not on the shelves, there is a little bit more room for error because phone manufacturers have a habit of tweaking their products every now and then. But given that the Gio is to be released within a few weeks, it is doubtful that this would change.
