Difference Between HTC Flyer and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
HTC Flyer vs Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
The Flyer from HTC and the Galaxy Tab 10.1 from Samsung are among the two tablet devices that are expected in 2011; late Q2 or early Q3. Seeing as these two would be in our options in the coming months, let’s see how the two devices compare with each other. The main difference between these two is the screen size. HTC decided to go with a 7-inch screen, which is pretty similar to the original Tab, while Samsung decided to go head to head with the iPad with a 10.1-inch screen. Of course, there is the trade-off between screen size and portability as the Tab 10.1 is obviously larger and heavier.
There is a major difference in the processors of the two devices. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 is equipped with a dual core processor which is clocked at 1Ghz, while the Flyer has a single core processor clocked at 1.5Ghz. The relationship between clock speed and number of cores is not linear, and there are areas where one would excel over the other. Two cores is better for multitasking as they both share the load while a faster processor would work very well with demanding applications.
The operating system running inside both devices is also different. Yes, they both have the Android OS, but the Flyer has Gingerbread while the Tab 10.1 has Honeycomb. Honeycomb is better optimized for tablets, and many have suggested that Flyer should’ve waited for it. It is expected that the Flyer would be updated to Honeycomb, the question is when.
Both devices have two cameras, one on the front and one on the back. There is just some difference when it comes to their resolutions. The Flyer has a 5 megapixel camera while Galaxy Tab 10.1 has a
3 megapixel camera. The opposite happens when we go to their respective front-facing cameras. The Flyer has a 1.3 megapixel camera while the Tab 10.1 has a higher 2 megapixel camera. The Tab 10.1 should be better at video calling, and the Flyer should be better at taking still pictures. There is no significant difference when recording videos as both are able to record at 720p resolution.
Summary:
1.The Flyer has a smaller screen than the Tab 10.1.
2.The Flyer has a single core processor while the Tab 10.1 has a dual core processor.
3.The Flyer ships with Gingerbread while the Tab 10.1 ships with Honeycomb.
4.The Flyer has a higher resolution main camera but a lower resolution secondary camera than the Tab 10.1.
