Differences Between Playstation Portable PSP 3000 and PSP Go
Playstation Portable PSP 3000 and PSP Go
The PSP Go is a version of the widely popular Playstation Portable. It does seem quite odd, though, as it abandons the traditional form taken by its predecessors. The biggest difference between the PSP Go and its predecessor, the PSP 3000, is the slider form of the former. The PSP 3000, and other PSPs, comes in a solid body with no moving parts. The screen of the PSP Go slides up to reveal the controls beneath.
Another major difference between the two is the smaller screen on the PSP Go. Its screen only measures 3.8 inches diagonally while the PSP 3000 has a screen that measures 4.3 inches. If it’s any consolation, the screen on the PSP Go is much better giving more vibrant colors compared to its predecessor.
The PSP Go has also abandoned the media used with by earlier PSPs including the PSP 3000. The PSP Go no longer has a UMD slot and relies solely on downloaded games. And because of this, the PSP Go is also equipped with 16GB of internal memory to hold games in. The PSP 3000 has no internal memory so a memory card is necessary for media. The PSP Go can still play older titles that were available in UMDs, but since there is no slot, users need to purchase the game again from the Playstation Network. Although many are hoping for a conversion software for their UMDs, Sony has not yet provided it.
All these changes add up to one thing, a very small device. Although it’s still as tall as and just slightly thinner than the PSP 3000, the PSP Go is almost half the width and weight of the PSP 3000. This makes it possible to carry the device around in your pocket.
Lastly, Sony decided to add Bluetooth to the PSP Go. The main advantage of having Bluetooth is the ease of transferring files to other devices. You can also connect Bluetooth headsets so that you can listen to your games or music without wires dangling from your ears.
Summary:
1. The PSP Go is a slider while the PSP 3000 is not.
2. The PSP Go has a smaller screen than the PSP 3000.
3. The PSP Go has no UMD slot while the PSP 3000 does.

5. The PSP Go is significantly smaller than the PSP 3000.
6. The PSP Go has Bluetooth while the PSP3000 doesn’t.
