Difference Between Lynx and Axe
Lynx vs Axe
Is there a difference between Lynx and Axe? When looking at the names there is a difference, but when looking at the products they are the same. Both Lynx and Axe are both men’s deodorants. Lynx and Axe are the same products with different names for different markets.
A product of Unilever, Lynx is the name used in the U.K., Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. The same product Lynx is known as Axe in other countries. The company has given the product different names so as to avoid the embarrassment that the name creates in different regions. For the British, “lynx” can mean “a big cat,” but it could be a swearing word in some other country.
Unilever launched Axe in 1983 in France. Soon after the success of the product in France, it was marketed in other European countries in which it was also widely accepted. In the U.K. and Ireland, the name of “Axe” could not be used because of some trademark problem ,and so they gave the product the name Lynx. It was in 1985 that Lynx was introduced in the U.K.
Both Lynx and Axe started as body sprays, but they have ventured into other formats like roll-ons, anti-perspirants, aerosol sprays, and anti-perspirant sticks. Both the products come mainly in amber, spicy, and musk fragrances.
Axe has come out with many variations that included the geographical names like Axe Africa, Axe Java Nevada, and Axe Inca. Axe has also come out with various products like Dimension, Dark Temptation, Apollo, Phoenix and Gravity.
Lynx has also come out with other products such as; Lynx Africa, Lynx Boost, Lynx Vice, smaller sprays when on the move (Bullet), deodorants for sensitive skin, and even a spray having a changing fragrance for attracting girls.
