Honda Civic is a compact car manufactured by Honda. Mazda 3 is a compact car manufactured by Mazda.
The Civic was first introduced in the year 1972 and has undergone a lot of design upgrades and improvements since. The Civic is available in quite a few variants. The variants are Sedan, Coupe, Hybrid and Natural Gas (NGV). Both the Sedan and coupe are also available in SI variants which stands for special performance. All these variants offer different trims and packages.
Mazda 3 is a relatively newer design based on the ford platform with the first launch in 2004. What we have available now is the first upgrade. The Mazda 3 is available in three main variants 4 door, 5 door and Mazdaspeed3. Mazdaspeed3 is the high performance version sold also as the sports version. All these variants further have their own trims available.
The basic Civic sedan and coupe come with a 4 cylinder engine with a displacement of 1799 cc delivering 140 horsepower @ 6300 rpm while the SI comes with a 1998 cc delivering 197 horsepower @ 7800 rpm. The Mazda 3, 4 door comes with a 2 liter 4 cylinder engine that is able to deliver 148 horsepower @ 6500 rpm. The s sport and grandtouring models and the 5 door are available with a 2.5 liter engines with 167 horsepower @ 6000 rpm. The Mazdaspeed 3 features a turbocharged 2.3-litre DISI MZR I4 from Mazda 6. This engine delivers 263 horsepower @ 5500 rpm.
The fuel economy for the Civic sedan claimed by the company is 25 MPG (miles per gallon) for the city and 36 MPG for the highway. The SI variant offers 29 MPG on the highway. The Mazda 3, 4 door claims 25 MPG in city and 33 MPG on the highway. The 5 door claims 21 MPG in the city and 29 on the highway. The Mazdaspeed 3 offers 18 MPG and 25 in the city.
The price ranges of the basic Honda Civic sedan & Coupe start from USD 15,600/- and goes till about USD 21,000/- depending on the trim chosen. The SI version price range starts from USD 22,000/- and goes till about USD 24,000/- as per the trim chosen. The Hybrid and the NGV can be acquired for a range of between USD 23,000/- to USD 27,000/-. The Mazda 3, 4 door prices start at USD 16,000/- till about 22,000/-. The 5 door is priced at USD 20,000/- to USD 22,000/-. The Mazdaspeed 3 can be acquired at a price of USD 24,000/-.
