Difference Between BMW X3 and BMW X5
BMW X3 vs BMW X5
With all the different models and brands of cars which are available in the market today, the only way that you can get the perfect car that suits your personality, driving needs and your budget, is by making a comparison. Narrow down your choices to two or three, and then make a checklist of the pros and cons of each model.
That is exactly what we will try to do with the BMW X3 and the BMW X5 models. Known for their performance and luxurious qualities, BMW is a German automobile company, founded in 1916. Now, let us start with comparing their similar-yet-different vehicular models: The BMW X3 and BMW X5.
The company began manufacturing BMW X5 models from 1999. This mid-size crossover SUV is a 5-door type, with a front engine layout, and four-wheel drive mechanism. Instead of dubbing it as an SUV or a Sports Utility Vehicle, the BMW X5 is tagged as an SAV, or a Sports Activity Vehicle. Despite being a huge four-by-four vehicle, the BMW X5 does have the capability to trek through even the roughest roads.
On the other hand, the BMW X3 began its manufacture in 2003. It has a longitudinally mounted layout, a front engine, and is also classified as a four-wheel drive vehicle. The difference between the BMW X3 and the BMW X5, is that the latter is a mid-size crossover, while the BMW X3 is a compact crossover SUV. The company also marketed the BMW X3 as a SAV, just like the X5, when it was first released.
If you have a look at the available information for the 2010 BMW X5 model, you will see that, in terms of technology, the company has used every trick in the book to make the vehicle as high-tech as possible. Gigabytes of space for music storage, a hard-drive based navigational system, a top-down view for the parking system ‘“ these are some of the nifty tricks that the BMW X5 has, which is not found in most vehicles.
Meanwhile, the BMW X3 delivers a performance which is as classic as BMWs get. The X3 is an eco-friendly car, and perhaps the only downside is the poorly designed cabin electronics that this particular model includes.
Summary:
1. The BMW X3 is a compact crossover SUV, while the BMW X5 is a midsize crossover SUV.
2. The BMW X3 is a four-door SUV, with a longitudinally mounted front engine, while the BMW X5 is a five-door SUV, with a front engine layout.
3. The BMW X3 has a smaller fuel capacity of 67 litres, while the BMW X5 can accommodate up to 93 litres of gas.
