Difference Between Blackberry Tour and Blackberry Bold
Blackberry Tour vs Blackberry Bold
Comparing the Blackberry Tour and the Blackberry Bold is rather simple as they are both from the same manufacturer and have, more or less, the same functions and software. When looking at the specifications of both, you should take not early on that the they do not have identical support for networks. Although they both support some networks, the Tour can be used in CDMA/EV-DO networks while the Bold cannot. Though this might seem that the Tour is much more superior compared to the Bold, you should also take into consideration that the Tour in only usable in 2100 MHz band that is being used in Asia and Europe. In North America, this frequency band is not used, meaning you can’t use UMTS/HSDPA within the US and Canada.
Aside from the frequency bands, Wi-Fi has also been removed in the Tour further limiting your data connection options. It would have been good to have Wi-Fi as a substitute when you are not within high speed EV-DO areas. The Bold has this feature making it a better choice for people who really needs high speed data access.
The Tour does have a few features that tips the favor to its side a bit. The camera has been improved in the Tour, replacing the 2 megapixel camera of the Bold with a 3.2 megapixel one. The smaller size of the Tour is also more ergonomic and users have reported that they are more comfortable using it compared to the big and bulky Bold. Some users have even called the Tour pocketable, something you can’t easily associate with the Bold.
Choosing between the Tour and the Bold would usually be decided by the network support and the needs of the user, everything else is just a side issue. Most mobile phone companies who are using CDMA networks have now begun to add support for UMTS/HSDPA and it seems likely that EV-DO might soon be abandoned altogether. The lack of support for other frequencies aside from 2100MHz might prove to be the downfall of the Tour.
Summary:
1.The Bold supports all three bands of UMTS/HSDPA but no CDMA while the Tour only supports a single band of UMTS/HSDPA with two bands of CDMA/EV-DO
2.The Bold has Wi-Fi while the Tour does not
3.The Bold only has a 2 megapixel camera while the Tour has a 3.2 megapixel camera
4.The Tour is slightly smaller and more ergonomic than the Bold
