Pizza Sauce vs Tomato Sauce
Tomato sauce is a type of sauce which is made from tomatoes. Tomatoes are ideal for sauces because they have a liquid content, and they do not need any thickening agents to make them into thick sauces. Aside from this, the flesh of the tomatoes is very soft and they cook easily.
Tomato sauce is not considered a condiment. Rather, it is made for the purpose of mixing it with a dish that it becomes a part of. While it is very commonly used for vegetables and meat, it is also used as a sauce for pasta dishes and pizza.
It is prepared by first removing the seeds and skins and chopping the tomatoes. Afterwards the tomatoes are cooked in olive oil and seasoned with salt. To keep the sauce from becoming too dry, water, stock, or wine is added.
To add more flavor, some spices such as garlic and onion are sautéed in olive oil before adding them to the tomatoes. Depending on the cook’s preference, ground meat and other spices may also be added including pepper to make it spicier.
The use of tomato sauce in Italian dishes came from its introduction by the Spaniards who brought the recipe from the New World. Its use in pasta was first mentioned in the late 1700s, and since then it has become very popular as part of pasta dishes and pizza.
Tomato sauce has many varieties, and they come seasoned with different herbs and spices. While it is very popular as an ingredient in pasta dishes, it is also an ingredient that pizza cannot do without. This sauce is known as pizza sauce.
