Difference Between Soymilk and Lactose Free Milk
Soy Milk vs Lactose Free Milk
Soymilk and lactose free milk are diary products that are used by people having lactose intolerance. Both the Soymilk and lactose free milk have their own merits and the choice depends on a person’s preferences and health conditions.
Lactose-free milk is cent percent pure milk with the only exception that it does not contain lactose. It contains lactase enzymes, which break down the lactose into simple sugars — galactose and glucose. Once the sugar is broken down, it becomes easy for the persons who have problems with lactose. Lactose-free milk contains almost the same calories and nutrients as in normal milk. Even though Lactose-free milk does not contain lactose, it has the same calcium content as that of normal milk.
Soymilk is free from lactose and casein. Soymilk is derived from the soybean plant. Even persons who do not have any problems with lactose and casein can take Soymilk as it is considered to be a healthy drink. An excellent source of Vitamin E and lecithin, Soymilk comes with less saturated fat than the normal milk. Just like Lactose-free milk, Soymilk also contains the same amount of calories. Soymilk also does not contain any cholesterol.
When comparing the protein content of Lactose-free milk and soymilk, the latter is higher in protein. However, soymilk does not contain as much calcium as that of Lactose-free milk.
When comparing the taste, Lactose-free milk is sweeter than Soymilk. On the other hand, soymilk has a distinct flavour. Soymilk comes in various flavours like vanilla and chocolate.
