Difference Between Pepperoni and Salami
Pepperoni vs Salami
Pepperoni and salami are different sausages that are used mainly in pizza and other foodstuffs. Though both pepperoni and salami are made from pork, they have slight differences.
Salami is also called a cured sausage and has its origins in Italy. It is said that Italian peasants were the first to make this sausage. They had developed a way of fermenting the meat so that it could be used for many years, and at times when there was a shortage of the meat.
“Salami” is a trademark sausage of Italy. It was from Italy that the sausage traveled to other parts of the world. It is mainly made from pork, chopped beef, veal, and poultry. Vinegar, salt, minced fat, preferred spices, white pepper, and certain herbs are added as ingredients. After mixing all the ingredients with the meat, it is then fermented completely dry.
Salami is mainly used during lunchtime. This sausage is known to have many nutritional benefits. A calorie-intense food, salami is known to contain about 760 calories which is about 80 per cent of the calories. Salami also consists of more fats.
Pepperoni is also a type of Italian salami. Like salami, pepperoni is also made from pork, chopped beef, and poultry. This sausage is one of the dry varieties of salami. Pepperoni is spicier than salami. This sausage is mainly used as a pizza topping as it is spicy. Like salami, this sausage also comes with the same nutritional value.

I read somwhere that usually one cooks pepperoni, such as on pizza. But salami is eaten raw.
Salami is already cooked, but cold. Peperoni too, so it is not eaten raw, but peperoni is more often used on things like pizza, which will cook it for a second time.
80% of what calories? The lunchtime meal? A pizza? What nutritional benefits? The macro-nutrients animal fat and protein?
