What is Dim sum?

Dim sum is a Chinese word meaning touch the hear. This is a common type of dish that is prepared with any kind of flour and finely chopped or diced fillings. They can be prepared with rice flour, wheat flour or even potato starch. Dim sums can either be fully or semi-transparent. 

Often served in fine-dining experiences, they are served with an accompaniment, in most instances, tea. Also, dim sums are best served immediately after steaming. 

What is Dumplings?

This is a type of dish that is prepared with an outer covering of flour, bread or potatoes and filled with meat, fish or vegetables. It is among the most versatile dish based on the fillings and the outer covering. Some dumplings are even prepared without fillings. In this case, the taste of the outer covering is enriched with batter, pastry or even leaves. 

Dumplings can be fried, boiled, baked or even steamed. Although they can be served with accompaniments, they are mostly served alongside gravy, stews or soup

Dim sums are rarely prepared without fillings. On the other hand, some dumplings are prepared without fillings and enhanced with batter, pastry or even leaves.

Dim sums are mostly served with tea. On the other hand, dumplings can be served alongside gravy, stews or soup.
