George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were presidents of the United States of America. George Washington was the first president of America, and Abraham Lincoln was the sixteenth.
George Washington is known as the father of the nation. It was his passion for a free country that led him to support the American Revolutionary war, which had fetched him the title ‘father of the nation’. George Washington was one of the driving forces behind the drafting of the Constitution. Meanwhile, Abraham Lincoln is credited with abolishing slavery.
George Washington was born into a well-to-do family, and lived well throughout his life. On the other hand, Abraham Lincoln was born into a poor family. He had worked as a laborer for many years. His life changed only after he became established as a lawyer.
When comparing the education that the two presidents received, George Washington had the opportunity to be taught at home and had good schooling. On the other hand, Abraham Lincoln only had a little formal education. He could only attend school occasionally. Lincoln was famous for his love for books. He would even walk miles to borrow books.
Now, comparing their military service, Abraham Lincoln’s experience was limited to a few weeks as a captain in the Black Hawk War. On the other hand, George Washington had more experience in the military, and had even risen to the rank of general.
George, as a president, did not lived in the White House, as it was not constructed at that time. On the contrary, Abraham Lincoln stayed in the White House when he was the president.
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated, George Washington died of acute pneumonia.
