Difference Between Low-rise and High-rise Men’s Briefs
Low-rise vs High-rise Men’s Briefs
Men’s briefs or underwear have undergone a change in the past few years. Today, there are many varieties or styles of briefs for men.
Briefs are a kind of men’s undergarments and sometimes swimwear. Briefs support and protect the male genital area in many activities. Unlike other alternate undergarment apparel, which is the boxer style, briefs are more fit and should be comfortable with the man’s body.
Most briefs are made with cotton in order for the body area to breathe and absorb sweat naturally. Also, cotton provides a soft cushion. The band, which is located at the top of the brief, is elastic.
The high-rise men’s brief is also known as the following: high-cut, full-rise, full-cut, and traditional. This design gives a wide coverage of a man’s body area as well as full support for the buttocks, the back, and genital area. Since this type of brief lifts the buttocks, men who wear this type have a slimmer and thinner look. The waistband of traditional briefs sits on the waist of the wearer.
The traditional cut is also the usual type of underwear for usual legwear or clothes like jeans, pants, and other clothing. The waistband sits on the waist of the wearer, and the garment ends at the wearer’s thigh. It is designed to be used for practical purposes and more relaxed comfort.
Meanwhile, the low-rise briefs are another kinds of briefs that are popular today. The low-rise briefs are the result of the popularity of the low-rise jeans. Since the traditional brief will be seen and noticed while wearing a pair of low-rise jeans, the low-rise briefs were designed and created to hide the garment from view and to maximize the appearance of the jeans and the abdominal area of the man.
Low-rise briefs sit just above the hipbone. The length of cloth is also considerably shorter than the length used in ordinary briefs. The expense of cloth is removed to achieve the low-rise look and purpose.
Both low-rise briefs and traditional briefs can be bought from clothing retailers in many materials and colors. However, traditionally designed briefs can be turned into low-rise briefs with the help of a sewing machine and a little sewing skill.

3.The main difference between low-rise briefs and high-rise briefs is the style or cut, coverage, and the purpose of the undergarment. Traditional briefs provide full support for the genital area, the back, and the buttocks up to the waist. 4.The low-rise briefs provide the same support except for the back area.
5.High-rise briefs are worn for practical purposes and beneath traditional-rise clothing. On the other hand, low-rise briefs are designed for lower-body clothing.
6.The band of the high-rise briefs rests on the waist or above the hipbone while the low-rise briefs rest below the hipbone.
7.High-rise briefs are worn for practical purposes while low-rise briefs are worn for aesthetic purposes, mostly to show off the low-rise pants or jeans in addition to illustrate a man’s abdominal area.
8.In perception, high-rise briefs are considered as comfortable underwear but unappealing. This is the opposite for low-rise briefs since it does look appealing, but it may be uncomfortable to wear for first-time wearers.
