Difference Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon

Disney world, founded by the Walt Disney Company, is not just an amusement park but hosts features and details that are ideal for all types of visitors. It is an exemplary place whereby visitors can not only enjoy exploring the place but also just being there. There are several parks, such as Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. Both parks have different themes hence appeal to different age groups. Before deciding to visit the waterparks, people should consider;

  • Winter closings– Each of the water parks is closed a month or two each winter. Before visiting, a person should hence confirm which park they would like to visit and whether it is open or closed for that period. 
  • The weather- For an ideal time to visit, one should check the weather conditions and choose a day whereby the weather is suitable for the water parks. However, it is often ideal to buy a ticket of the water parks on arrival.
  • Age groups- There are activities in both that are ideal for a certain age, especially in children. 

 

Blizzard Beach

Disney World’s Blizzard Beach is a water-themed park which opened in 1995 and is located in Florida, at the Walt Disney World Resort. It is the third most visited park in the world, after Typhoon Lagoon. The park is ideal for people who are thrill seekers, as it has the world’s fastest and third largest straight drop water slide. 

Some of the slides and attractions at Blizzard Beach are;

  1. Green slope-These are found at the uppermost point of Mount Gushmore and can be accessed by chairlift or by foot. They include the Summit Plummet, Slush Gusher, and Teamboat Springs. 
  • Summit Plummet is the fastest water slides in the world, making it the most intense attraction in Blizzard Beach, with speeds of up to 55mph. 
  • Slush Gusher is basically a body slide that is mainly preferred by those who consider the summit plummet too intense. 
  • Teamboat Springs is a family raft ride with a capacity of 6 riders per raft. 
  1. Purple slope-These are racing slides.
  • Downhill Double Dipper- This is a twin tube racing slide with multiple heats and release gates. 
  • Snow Stormers- Here, guests lie on mats as they race down. 
  • Toboggan Racers- Guests ride on mats, but only allows up to 8 people. 
  • Red slope- The red slope has only one attraction, which is Runoff Rapids. It has an n inner tube rid, and also allows for multiple riders.  

 

Typhoon Lagoon

This is a water-themed park, which was first opened in 1989. Here, you will find fish nets, rocks, sand and anything to bring the tropical island look. It also closes once per year, for refurbishing purposes

Some of the attractions at Typhoon Lagoon are;

  • Humunga Kowabunga- These are three enclosed speed body slides that send riders down five stories of rushing water, at a speed of 55 miles per hour. 
  • Gangplank falls- This an inner tube slide that hosts up to four persons, and is ideal for the whole family to enjoy. 
  • Crush ‘n’ Gusher- These are three slides that lead to a common pool at the bottom. The slides are named as Pineapple Plunger, Banana Blaster and Coconut Crusher. 
  • Miss adventure falls- This is a raft ride which accommodates up to 4 people. 
  • Mayday Falls- This is the longest water slide at typhoon lagoon which is an inner tube ride down a slide with rough rapids. 
  • Typhoon Lagoon Surf Pool-This is the world’s largest wave pool, which allows people to decide to go either go when the waves are calm, or when they are humongous. 
  • Bay slides- These are beginner slides with gentle slopes that are designed for toddlers. 

 

Similarities between Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon

  • Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach offer guests plenty of fun.
  • Each park closes for refurbishment at a different time of year.
  • Both water parks offer similar amenities, such as life jackets, towels, dining places, and lockers.
  • Both parks feature lazy rivers that encircle the property and feature waterfalls, caves, and other attractions to keep it from just being a gently moving circle of water.
  • Both parks have a quick service area for food and drinks and have other stands all over the park. 

 

Differences between Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon

  1. Theme 

While the Blizzard Beach theme is set on a snowstorm that hit Florida, Typhoon Lagoon has a tropical setting that’s been hit by a massive typhoon. Also, the dense vegetation throughout the park in Typhoon Lagoon brings out the best of a tropical feel. 

  1. Kids play areas

Blizzard Beach has a couple play areas each targeting kids of different ages. Typhoon Lagoon, on the other hand has one play area targeting small kids. 

  1. Family Slides

While Blizzard Beach has the most slides, Typhoon Lagoon has better slides aimed for family rides. 

  1. Biggest thrill

Blizzard Beach has the biggest thrill, which is the Summit Plummet. This makes it better for people looking for the thrill. Typhoon Lagoon also has thrill rides, but less scary than those in Blizzard Beach. 

  1. Pool areas

In comparison, Typhoon Lagoon has the largest wave pool, and sandy beaches, making it a better pool area.

Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon are both exceptional in the fun activities that each offer. It hence depends on the age group and the activities that one plans to indulge in. I say, why not try both? And see which one works best for you.
