UFC and MMA are interlinked. It can be very difficult to find out a difference between the two as UFC cannot be seen as different from MMA. Well, Mixed Martial Arts or MMA can be termed as the sport and Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC can be called as the organization. It is just like NBA and basketball, where the former is the organization and the other one is a sport.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship is a United States based organization, which is aimed at the promotion of martial arts. Well, Mixed Martial Arts is a combination of several schools of fighting. Most of the fighters of MMA are trained in wrestling, boxing, jiu-jitsu, and kick boxing.
Mixed Martial Arts have been in practice since 1980s. The traces of mixed martial arts style can be seen throughout Japan, Europe and the Pacific Rim even from 1900s. However, MMA got much popularity after the formation of UFC in 1993. The credit of UFC goes to Art Davie, Rorion Gracie and Robert Meyrowitz. The Ultimate Fighting Championship has its headquarters in Las Vegas.
Well, Jeff Blatnick, an Olympic gold medalist and a former Greco-Roman wrestler, coined the name Mixed Martial Arts.
While Mixed Martial Arts can be termed as the style of fighting, Unlimited Fighting Championship can be termed as a fight organization, where MMA competition takes place.
UFC is the brand name through which the MMA sells. The MMA would not have got this wide popularity without UFC.
Many people think that Ultimate Fighting Championship and Mixed Marital Arts are different. But the real fact is that they stand for the same thing. One will not be able to stand excluded from the other.

Wait…. What?!!? People really think that “UFC” and “MMA” are different types of fighting? People don’t just understand that MMA fighters practice their trade… in the UFC.
Just like basketball players ply theirs in the NBA.
baseball players, perform in the MLB
Football Players , play in the NFL.
MMA fighters , fight in the UFC.
UFC Fighters… are just MMA Fighters under UFC Contract.
