Difference Between Islam and Bahai
Islam vs Bahai
We all know about Islam, but may not know about Bahai. Bahai is a new religion or rather a religion of the newer world. It is becoming popular nowadays and has its origins from the Shi’ite Islam sect. Though originating from Islam, there are a considerable amount of differences between the two religions. Bahai is not considered a sub sect of Islam, but as a new religion itself.
There are over 5 million followers of Bahai religion globally, spread across 236 countries. The forerunner of this religion was Sayid Ali Muhammad. He had to face severe consequences in the beginning. There were bloodsheds and executions. The followers of this religion are called as Bahais. Today there are international conferences of this religion and is being accepted as a religion of the world. There are many holy books for the religion but the most prominent one is Kitáb-i-Aqdas.
Islam was founded by Muhammed and the followers of this religion are known as Muslims. The roots of this religion are often traced back to Christianity. The Muslims refer to Jesus, Moses, and Abraham as the prophets of God and hence as Muslims. In the view of Islam, Judaism and Christianity are true religions. The Muslims have a holy book which is known as the Quran and is written originally in Arabic language. The word Muslim itself means a ‘person who submits.’
Rather than just being a religion, Bahai is a combination of religion and science. The major principles of this religion are establishment of world peace, universal education, equality of women and men, adoration of one God, and cooperation between Science and Religion in a person’s search for truth.
The main principles or teachings of Islam are the Five Pillars. These are the obligatory prayer, repeating the shahada, giving alms, fasting, and pilgrimage. The pilgrimage or hajj is to Mecca and the places near it.
Anybody can embrace the Bahai religion while there are restrictions and conditions when you embrace Islam. A follower of Bahai is considered to be more educated than people of other religions as he is expected to study the scriptures of his religion as well as that of the other religions of the world.
Summary:
1.Bahai is a religion having origins from Islam and Islam has its roots from Christianity.
2.The followers of Islam are known as Muslims and the followers of Bahai are called as Bahais.
3.The holy book of Muslims is the Quran and that of Bahais is the Kitáb-i-Aqdas.
4.Bahai is a combination of religion and science while Islam is purely a religion based on the teachings of the Prophet.
5.The main principles of Islam are based on the Quran and teachings of the Prophet. Bahai has a more scientific and modern approach and focuses on issues like equality of the genders, world peace, adoring one God, and combining science and religion.
6.A Bahai is supposed to learn the scriptures of the religion as well as that of other religions. Muslims are not supposed to learn about other religions.

Not bad for a basic intro. A couple further basics are spelling – typically it’s spelled “Baha’i” or “Baha’i Faith” or “Baha’is” for followers of the religion. If you want to get even finer detail there are accents involved.
Baha’is believe each well known religion, and the aboriginal faith traditions of natives, are all founded by God whether it’s known who founded the religion or not. Thus our duty to understand the other religions rather than ignore them. They are part of our cultural history and should be brought forward, best by those who live in those areas. Baha’is also believe that religions include both eternal truths and relative truths. Eternal truths like the virtues of sincerity and honesty and courage and relative truths like vegetarianism or the need to allow for divorce etc. Both also progress in their expression as culture and people change. Slavery used to be allowed not out of sense of allowing for a need to be mean to some people but in a sense of it being a social system for managing resources. Not all slavery was bent on hurting people. But now-a-days slavery is no longer needed and is forbidden in the Baha’i Faith’s teachings – but this isn’t to cast a sense of superiority of a new religion over an older one. It’s to say that God’s teachings – and we do believe religious teachings come from God – has allowed for our progress and we no longer need slavery. In that sense Baha’i teachings are more accepting of science – it’s not that Islam was incompatible with science (indeed until the 1800s all western progress scientifically was eclipsed in the east under Islam, or actually based on Muslim science, so beware casting aspersions on Islam’s sense of science!)
The Kitab-i-Aqdas is out Book of Laws but all the central works of the religion are scriptural. Each has some distinctive quality. Two of the more readable for interested readers are the Hidden Words, and the Kitab-i-Iqan (or Book of Certitude). All our central works are available online free though multiple outlets.
And 5 million, while widely cited in Baha’i sources, is a number that dates back to the early 1990s or before. A more common current number is over 7 million.
I want to know Is there Babai live in India . If live than which city or which state ?
yes, there are many Baha’is in India and a Baha’i Temple in new delhi india:
http://www.bahai.in/
For example there is a Bahá’à temple in New Delhi, I guess you would find some Bahá’Ãs there 🙂
http://www.google.no/images?hl=no&q=bahai%20temple%20in%20india&rlz=1R2ADFA_noNO393&um=1&ie=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1007&bih=431
They do live in India . I have a friend who lives in Gwalior . The olyai family .
In comparison to other religious community, Baha’is are a miniscule community, but you can find Baha’is all over India.
Assalam alaikum,
Just to let you know people that this website is extremely biased towards Islam. For example, it says that
1.Bahai is a religion having origins from Islam and Islam has its roots from Christianity.( completely wrong, islam doesn’t have roots from chirtianity.)
4.Bahai is a combination of religion and science while Islam is purely a religion based on the teachings of the Prophet. ( Teaching of Prophet (PBUH) is also based on science and everything. Islam shows us how to live life).
5.The main principles of Islam are based on the Quran and teachings of the Prophet. Bahai has a more scientific and modern approach and focuses on issues like equality of the genders, world peace, adoring one God, and combining science and religion.( Islam is the onlyreligion who not only “fouses” but actually tells us to practice on issues like equality of the genders, world peace, adoring one God, and combining science and religion. This is completely wrong. whoever has put up this informations is very bias. Anyone who wants to know about islam should do their own reseach, read quran and hadees, with free mind. then you will see the beauty of islam.)
6.A Bahai is supposed to learn the scriptures of the religion as well as that of other religions. Muslims are not supposed to learn about other religions. ( Again, Completely wrong, there is no restrictions on any muslims for that. Muslims are actually encouraged in islam to learn about other religions and fing comparisons so that all mankind is united bas on those comparisons.)
One more Thing, anyone who has doubts about islam or wants to learn about islam

Dear friend,
I read your objections and found most of them to be true. I am a student of Islam and other religions. Have you ever studied Baha’i Faith with an impartial mind, as you are asking the readers?
Best regards
Furthermore, the article states that there are certain restrictions on acceptance of Islam. Absolutely false. To accept Islam, you need only testify to oneness of god and accept Muhammad (PBUH) as his final messenger. The falsehoods in this article are despicable. To answer your question friend, I have indeed. I find that while they are similiar in many aspects. Their fundamental differences infact, makes them idealogically diverse.
There are programs at the most prestigious islamic universities focusing on the study of the scriptures of other religions and comparison to the Qu’ran. And there are various muslim scholars of note that have memorized the bible in addition to the qur’an, examine the incredibly interesting lectures of Sheikh Ahmad Deedat (may god grant him paradise). And just to point out the sheer stupidity of this article, the article states that muslims refer to Christians and Jews as “true religions” (not entirely correct, they’re referred to as people of the book) Why on earth, if they are “true religions” would their scriptures be forbidden. It is infact the opposite. ONE OF THE SEVEN FUNDAMENTAL PILLARS OF ISLAM IS BELIEF IN ALL THE SCRIPTURES OF GOD, The torah and bible included.
Hi friend, you mean biased against Islam and yes I would agree with that.
Hi everyone,
I am a Baha’i and I completely agree with Shenaz Anser. This article is very poorly written and the author is biased (or perhaps just not very well informed about Islam, or the Baha’i Faith for that matter). Islam aligns with science just as much as Baha’i teachings do. Baha’u’llah taught that any true religion will complement scientific discovery and they will help prove and support the claims of each other. Islam is the same in this respect, and both religions are based on divine revelations from their respective prophet founders, not on direct scientific discovery.
Islam does not teach that you are not allowed to study other religions. Both Baha’i teachings and Islamic teachings are very similar on this point. Both teach progressive revelation and acknowledge the verity and importance of previous religions.
There are more inaccuracies in the article, but I will stop here for the sake of time. I strongly suggest that the author of this article remove it from the internet, until a later time when it can be rewritten correctly, or written by somebody who is very-well informed on both religions. Some things in the article are correct and accurate, but it also includes too many inaccuracies to be helpful in properly informing the reader. You are only misinforming new readers, and offending others who are already well-informed.
Thanks,
J Kugler
Salam. Islam is the only religion forwarded to this world. Christianity and Judism are other names of Islam because all the preachings are same and revieled from Allah through Messangers. Baha’i, Pervezi etc are all the amendments which are not acceptable. The rules are made by Allah and implemented by Prophets. We are just suppose to abide them. We are nobody to critsize them or find out the the answers of Why? Qur’an says to observe the nature to promote your emaan to a better strength not to be distracted.
Totally disagree, Islam does not have it roots to Christianity. However that is assumption of many Christians. It is a Abrahamic religion, completely unique and uncorrupted message that Messagers(PBUH) preached. Furthermore, there was Ismailites that existed before the Israelites, and while the Israelites have many interesting interactions with them as well. Ironically Abraham believed in One god, and sons did so us well. So there is weak support that Islam is rooted out from Christianity as Islam openly professes that there was original one message.
Many thanks bro
Totally and 100percent agree woth you. Whoever wrote this is very uneducated and bias like i nvr seen before. Complere bullshit and stupidity. Wow.. Good job pointing out all the dumb wrong insane facts supposedly purposed to educate the difference of the 2 faith. Wow what a moron.
Why islam didn’t allow intercasts marriage…. Human being have not the right to renew religion… God the Creator will renew His religion by sending new Messenger.. Our duty is to recognised Him with unbiased mind and open heart…. Religion is progressive….
Asslamu alaikum-I am agree with Shenazs block.some of lac of information causes like this kind of differences.I personaly give him advice if you havnt any true and suficient information pls. Do not take anyothers religions, you should have knowledge of The holy Quran, ifyou are in trouble to understood The Quran i personaly advice you should meet our wel-known Ulema(precepter) like Moulana Tariq Jameel(Pakistan),Mufti Khanpuri sahab(Surat,India) and many of them but dont play like this..
” 6.A Bahai is supposed to learn the scriptures of the religion as well as that of other religions. Muslims are not supposed to learn about other religions.”
LOL, seriously who wrote this intro? Where on earth does it say Muslims are not supposed to study other religions? And there are so many nonsensical comments in this article that I can’t even be bothered to mention them.
It must’ve been written by a Baha’i person who happens to know nothing or very little about Islam.
Alla’u’abha my friend,
I am a Baha’i and I can assure you that no Baha’i I have known would make up such outrageous things about Islam. In my estimation it is likely the work of someone who has done only a little research. They also seriously misrepresented some Baha’i principles. I have made a post asking them to change it as well. I posted this incorrectly on another comment at first!
Nice post at Difference Between Islam and Bahai | Difference Between | Islam vs Bahai. I was checking continuously this blog and I’m impressed! Extremely useful info specially the last part 🙂 I care for such info a lot. I was looking for this particular info for a very long time. Thank you and best of luck.
Don’t forget to say that Bahai do not have any miracle like all other religion (Christianism and Jews saw miracle, Muslims have miracle until the day of Jugement which is Coran). Bahai are misguided.
If my neighbor come to my door and proclaim himself to be prophet, I’m wondering how I can recognise if is he is saying the truth or not without something exceptional (Miracle). Poor Bahai peoples, they have been misguided
Miracle of every religion is it’s Holy Book (it is also explicitly mentioned in Quran as well)…. so read the writtings of Baha-ullah before making any excusses
Aoa, well you qouted that read the writings of Bahaullah, so please tell me what is its authenticity. some body tomorrow writes that he is Nauzubillah prophet, should people start believing in them? As a common sense, authenticity and comparison must be adopted. it deosnt matter what he wrote or how many books he wrote make him a leader. nowadays a little child can write a good book but what is written and whats its application on our lives and its reality to ground must be judged.
Dear MMS
According to the Baha’i teachings, all the Prophets of God can perform miracles, and indeed a proof of Baha’u’llah is the “miracles He performed” However, Baha’u’llah counsels us not to recount miracles. Baha’u’llah’s son and successor has written:
“many wonderful things (miracles) were done by Baha’u’llah, but we do not recount them, as they do not constitute proofs and evidences for all the peoples of the earth, and they are not decisive proofs even for those who see them: they may think that they are merely enchantments.”
I think the biggest proof is the Word of God itself and not any miracles that are performed, as miracles might be good for the people who witness it.
Another point that I will like to discuss is in relation to free will. We are fortunate that our All Mighty Creator has endowed human beings with the capaci to know Him and love him and He has provided us with talents and faculties and the gift of free will.
If the function of Prophets is that the perform miracles than I guess all the magicians will go bankrupt! On a serious note, we are always tested by God, and it is these tests and trials that we face to grown spiritually. I think that with the advent of the Prophet of God people are again tested, the faithfull and unfaithfull are divided. It is at this juncture that we utilize our free will to investigate the personage and words of the Prophet of God and by accepting Him we are turning towards the Word of God Himself.

There is only one god and he is ALLAH and HAZRAT MUHAMMAD S.A.W is his last messenger send to the mankind.
Oh its damn true, bahaullah was gone mad because he claimed himself to be a prophet..!
Bahaullah was lucky because he was born 200 years back ,and if i would have got bahaullah in todays time near my home then i would have killed him..!
Md.Sahidul haque laskar.. I have one word for you “disgusting!” Yes, that is what you are! I hope those Hindu extremists next door would come and do to you, what you are planning for the rest of the non-believers! We don’t need people like you in any religion.
Thats not rlly nice we all have to accept people and their religons
How sad that people choose intolerance and aversion to knowledge as you have. You appear fanatical in your beliefs, a bad sugn.. This thread is about people attempting to learn something…Here you are with rants about who you would kill. I certainly hope you find peace in the midst of your war on others. Very sad.
The one who wrote the article knows nothing about Islam or Bahais. He is more into writings than educating.
any way, he got good answers.
These comments are pretty divisive.
The difference between these two religiones are very deep and the source world problem’so no one knows which one is correct.why are escaping from this Un resolved matter.we should have to look for new religion that makes peace and harmony.
Peace upon you,
I am a Muslim. I have to agree the person who wrote this article is not very much educated in Islam, the information he posted is very biased.
I am reading about Bahi’s and it is very close to islam in many ways. I consider Islam to be a complete religion (it deals with everything even how you sleep 🙂 ) as a Muslim you need to know your own religion, and that is a life long process your hardest enemy is yourself (your own soul) – not the non-believer. but once you have a strong base its recommended that you read and research about other religions too to better debate and spot the mistakes – man made mistakes.
Islam is about love, faith and understanding, its very upsetting that most people don’t understand the true message – merely because they don’t take enough time to study it. That’s why you get so many branches and misconceptions as well as new faiths and believe systems.
I think for Islam, it is Muslims who are destroying its message. Because of the wrong way they practice/preach the religion. So I advice anyone reading this article Muslim and non-Muslim to read more about Islam and try to study it in more depth, and if God wills he will show you the truth and put the light into your heart.
it is true that Islam is originated from the teachings of Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moss, Jesus and all the other prophets Peace and Blessings Be Upon Them-
As they are all considered Muslims i.e. submit to the will and power of the one all mighty creator; God.
But it is NOT originated from MODERN Judaism, and Christianity because they both have been misinterpreted by Humans. And I advice my friend here not to write on a topic so sensitive if he doesn’t know much about it. It will cause more harm than good – i am saying this for your own benefit.
I know you want to help, but its better not to help if you will lead people astray! (one who does not know and knows he does not know – is the learner be a learner, don’t teach yet)
Notice how i didn’t say anything about Bahi Because i believe that I dont know enough to talk it about it yet.
As a Baha’i, I like your comments.
I don’t know where the writer Manisha Kumar got the idea that Muslims are not supposed to learn about other religions. That’s not true at all. If it were then why would Muslims agree that there are fundamental similarities between Islam, Christianity and Judaism.
Manisha Kumar should really do her research before throwing out such accusations.
Why muslim people doesn’t allow intercast marriage…
I am ordained to preach the gospel Jesus Christ. However, today I am a new Bahai. I was drawn to this religion because of the unity on which it stands. I have many friends who are Muslims, and so much of what we practice seems alike. In any event, I feel blessed by all those religions. I appreciated the comments, they gave me something to think about.
If all the baha’is respect and believe in Islam then why they introduced baha’ I faith.
Allah sent islam to this world because the Jews manipulated their scripture and the Christians misunderstood their prophet.
The Quran clearly says that Muhammad s.a.w. is the last messenger.
Moreover,Muhammad s.a.w. said that if anyone is supposed to be prophet after me then it will be hazarat umar bin all khattab but none will be prophet after me.
Shalom everyone. My personal opinion is that too much religion harms. I believe one God, and this God is same for all monotheistic religions in the world. I grow up in a mixed Jewish – Christian family and married a Sunni Muslim woman, without conversion. I studied Tanach and Talmud, the New Testament, the Quoraan and a part of the Hadiths, the Shi’a books also. It was a pleasure to compare the comments of Muhammad Asad on Quoraan with other authentic authors and jewish scripts. As result I can affirm that a believe without questioning is a dogma. Stupid thing isn’t? Thousands of innocent people die every year beacause of lack of auto criticism, miss interpretation of scripts, growing up with fear and hate..too much hate. But there is a very simple message folks: our goal in this wold is to make it better. To make it better through our daily activities, at work and family. To respect each other, to accept criticism, to argue with facts instead of beliefs. All of us are receiving our souls from the one God with 70 and more other names and definitions and one day we will give it to him back. Without fear and threat. Everyone of us can speak to him without an transmitter, priests, imams and rabbis are here to learn us the message of unity and a good heart. No Prophet (peace upon him) and no son of God is needed to perform your way to a better world. You are responsible for your own life and actions. You are the only who can choose between god or wrong, because He, the only one Allah, Adonai, Elohim etc gave you wisdom to be able to decide. And at the end of the day you will stay alone in front of Him. If you were a good guy: no problem. Otherwise sucks. Like the brothers from daesh for instance
Ok guys that’s the fact. Living among the big 3 is a life experience. And it makes me happy and confident that the world can be changed just a little bit. Don’t forget: women are equal to man one on one, gay and lesbian imams, priests and rabbis are maybe the angels of God…Salam, shalom from Europe
Truly people should read about Buddhism. How Gotam Buddha spoke about delusions of God. Instead of talking about God and prophets, Buddha spoke about the most important aspect what really matters to our souls. Instead of heaven and hell, Buddha explained a step ahead saying existence in neither heaven nor hell is permanent and soul keeps moving between various realms. He said only nibbana will truly release us from our suffering. And to achieve nibbana nobody can help us but we ourselves must achieve it..
Too funny. Research is an actual thing that you can use before posting an article. there are so many holes here. I am wondering if it is an article or a block of cheese.
Baha’u’llah (The Glory of God)is the true Prophet of this Age…. Search His Writing with unbiased mind…. Baha’i sees the true color of sun but other in different color of glassess.. That’s why we find differences among us… Let’s take off our color of glasses… Krishna..Jesus.. Abrham.. Mossess.. Budha.. Muhammad they are all sent to us by God… We must followed the latest manifestation God…. So, independent investigation of truth is needed…….
Hello to all,
Have you tried to consider not to follow any “religion”? Find inner strength to be good, peaceful, kind, helpful, and so on without trying to be controlled by a scripted set of rules. Have you tried to purify yourself of any desire to control others? Instead of such feeling, have you tried to guide those around you purely by example? Have you actually tried to accept the great responsibility for your own action instead of passing it on to the will of a greater power? Seek universal clarity, start with your inner self, then you may see and filter out the imperfections of religions while still able to remain tolerant. Allow inner peace to give you strength to handle your responsibilities toward our common soul.
Respectfully,
Janos
I couldn’t agree more.
Islaam also support for learn other religion
I am shocked by the hatred and wrath expressed by the Muslim commenters here for over 10 years. You say you are true, educated, and tolerant. Would it be too much to ask to simply clarify misstatements politely? Practice what you preach rather than showing outrage toward Baha’is, Christians, and Jews as being misinformed and inferior.
Salaams
The views expressed in here are 100% personal views…
Muslims are taught:
Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should treat his neighbour generously” and “Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day should not harm his neighbors”
No reference made to the neighbors religious beliefs…
May Allah grant us all the wisdom to live harmoniously…
WSlms
In the final analysis of life, there is only one GOD AND THE ONLY REQUIREMENT OF A HUMAN BEING IS TO BE A GOOD HUMAN. IT DIES NOT MATTER WHETHER YOU ARE A BAHA’I, MUSLIM,JEWISH OR CHRISTIAN. SO PLEASE JUST TRY TO BE A GOOD HUMAN BEING. REST WE ALL WILL HAVE TO ANSWER GOD ON THE APPOINTED DAY.
The example of those who disbelieve is like that of one who shouts at what hears nothing but calls and cries cattle or sheep – deaf, dumb and blind, so they do not understand.

Are you freaking serious bro? Who told you Muslims are not supposed to read Scriptures of other religion???? You lost the credibility here. It seems you need to study Scriptures of other religions and then make a stupid non researched article like this!
ISLAM DOES NOT HAVE ITS ROOTS IN CHRISTIAN OR JUDIASM…
ITS A RELIGION FROM PROPHET ADAM.
