Difference Between Glossy and Lustre
Glossy vs Lustre
When having pictures printed, people choose glossy as well as lustre paper. They might be a little confused with which one to choose. So it is always better to look at the differences between glossy and lustre.
Glossy is so smooth like glass. Glossy is also delicate but has the highest saturation. Glossy paper comes with the finest details. Moreover, the colors also look more prominent with glossy paper. However, glossy paper has a drawback that it gets dirty easily. If you touch the glossy paper with your dirty fingers, the smear will be shown clearly
Now talking about lustre paper, it is a paper with a texture that has small bubbles. When compared to glossy paper, lustre paper does not get dirty that easily. Photographers prefer lustre paper to glossy paper as they do not become dirty with dirty fingers. The colors are not that prominently exposed when printed on lustre paper.
When compared to lustre paper, glossy paper has a high reflective surface. While glossy paper has a gloss surface, lustre paper has less gloss. The details are sharper in glossy paper when compared to the details in a lustre paper.
When glossy paper has a smooth texture, lustre paper is slightly textured. In paper finishes also, they have differences. Glossy paper gives a shiny paper finish whereas lustre paper gives a soft, sheen finish. When comparing the quality, glossy paper gives a better quality than the lustre paper.
The prints on lustre print are good if the picture has to be framed and out behind glass. But the prints on glossy paper are framed without having glass as the glare of the print would conflict with the glare of the glass. Moreover, if you want a colorful photo with more vibrancy, glossy paper is the best.
