Difference Between Tesla and Bugatti

Tesla’s next-generation Roadster is making headlines since this futuristic all-electric supercar came into production. The Bugatti is already a pinnacle of luxury and performance. But will it stand up to the Tesla’s sheer commitment to sustainable energy?

First let’s look at : Tesla

Tesla is an American automotive and energy company that specializes in electric cars. In fact, Tesla is a global leader is all-electric cars with a mission to race the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Tesla produces cars that run on battery instead of the not-so-environment-friendly gasoline. It’s the company’s commitment to make electric cars fast and affordable, and their unique business model, which make Tesla a strong contender in the electric vehicles (EV) race. Tesla, originally Tesla Motors, was founded in 2003 by two engineers – Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning – who had a passion for electric cars.

Elon Musk joined in later as the Chairman of the Board of Directors in 2004, after investing $6.3 million in stocks during a ‘Series A’ round of investment. The name ‘Tesla’ comes from Nikola Tesla, which was obvious considering he was one of the major pioneers in electricity and the inventor of the first alternating current (AC) motor. In 2008, Tesla launched the Roadster based on their cutting-edge battery system and electric powertrain. It achieved a run of 245 miles on a single charge, which was no less than an achievement for a production electric car.

So how about Bugatti

Bugatti is a French manufacturer of fast, high-performance cars founded by the Italian-born industrial designer Ettore Bugatti. Errore was recognized as one of the most brilliant designers to ever work in the automotive field. From racing machines to sports cars to limousines, Ettore produced a greater range of models than any other single designer has ever done. Bugatti is already known for their exceptionally fast cars. One model of their racing car won over a thousand races in two years.

Bugatti boasts a rich heritage that dates back to the early 1900s. The Bugatti Type 2 was the first four-wheeled prototype built by Ettore Bugatti in 1900 and it was unveiled in 1901. The Bugatti Type 35 was one of the most successful racing cars of all time, which won over 2,000 races between 1924 and 1930. The Type 35 was one the icons of Bugatti’s rich history and one of the forefathers of the current hyper sports car line-up – the Chiron, Chiron Sport, and Divo. The next evolution of the Chiron is the 2021’s Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport which costs a whopping $3.6 million.

Difference between Tesla and Bugatti

Origin 

– Tesla was founded in 2003 by two engineers, Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning. Elon Musk later joined in as the Chairman of the Board of Directors, after investing $6.3 million in stocks during a ‘Series A’ round of investment. Bugatti was founded by the Italian-born industrial designer Ettore Bugatti in the village of Molsheim, Alsace (then a German region). Volkswagen Group acquired the Bugatti marquee in 1998.

First Car 

– Bugatti’s first production vehicle was the Bugatti EB110 GT which featured a quad-turbo 3.5-liter 60-valve V12 engine generating 553 hp and 451 lb-ft of torque, a six-speed manual transmission gearbox, and a four wheel drive. Tesla’s first production car was the all-electric, high-performance Roadster which covered a 245 miles range on a single charge, which was unprecedented for an electric car.

Roadster vs. Chiron

 – The 2022 Tesla Roadster is an all-wheel drive, powered by three electric motors and has a 200 kWh battery, which gives it an impressive 620 miles of range, and generates 7,400 lb-ft of torque. The Roadster can go from 0 to 60 mph is just under 2 seconds. The Bugatti Chiron is powered by a quad-turbocharged W16 engine which makes a whopping 1500PS of power at 6700 rpm and 1600Nm of torque at 2000-6000 rpm. Although, the top speed of Chiron is much higher, the Roadster accelerates much faster. In addition, the Roadster is much more affordable than the Chiron.

Summary of Tesla vs. Bugatti

The new Tesla Roadster looks straight from the future, combining a breathtaking design with a record-setting performance. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds, which is unprecedented for an all-electric car. The Bugatti Chiron is incredibly faster with a top speed of almost 300 mph, and can go from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, which is considerably lower than a Roadster. In addition, the Roadster is a 4-seat configuration despite its compact supercar frame. The Roadster is also much affordable than a Chiron, which costs a whopping $3 million. 

Is Bugatti better than Tesla?

Bugatti comes in a hyper car segment and its cars will cost you a fortune. The Bugatti Chiron, for example, is one of Bugatti’s most successful and fastest hyper cars with a top speed of over 300 mph. However, the Tesla Roadster accelerates much faster and boasts a higher maximum range.

Is a Tesla Model S faster than a Bugatti?

The Tesla Model S Plaid has a top speed of around 200 mph, which is considerably lower than the Bugatti Chiron’s, which clocks a whopping 300 mph. So, Bugatti is insanely faster than a Tesla.

Is a Tesla faster than a Bugatti Chiron?

Although, the Tesla Roadster has a lower top speed compared to Chiron’s, the Roadster accelerates much faster and goes from 0 to 60 mph in 1.9 seconds. The Chiron goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.4 seconds.

What car can beat a Bugatti?

In terms of speed, there are quite a few that can beat a Bugatti, like the Koenigsegg Agera R, Hennessey Venom GT, and the SSC Tuatara.
