    This won’t work for several reasons. One example: you say that allegory is not the same as symbolism. But you also say that one of the types of symbolism is allegory.

    So, dog is not the same as cat. But dog is one kind of cat.

    Thank you, Sarah, for this clear and interesting article. It well describes how the two modes of exegesis work. Perhaps you could include biblical examples, since the bible is a sphere where the two methods of non-literal interpretation are essential.
