Difference between Viber & Tango
Viber vs Tango
Viber and Tango are two of the most popular and most widely used Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) apps that are used for making free text and calls through the internet among the smartphone users. Both Viber and Tango are available on iOS, Android and Windows Mobile platforms. Viber offers only free voice calls and SMS texts, but Tango supports both voice calls & video calls.
Once you’ve installed Viber on your phone, it’s very easy to make free calls to others users who have Viber on their phones too. For iPhone users, the software can be downloaded from the Apple Store and the Google Play Store for the Android users. You don’t have to bear the trouble of going through a lengthy registration process. The application will use your cell phone number as the username. A verification code will be sent to your phone, which upon confirmation, you will be automatically registered to the Viber database. The address book of the Viber app is the same as that of your phone address book. You can browse the contact list and check out which of the users on your contact list are using Viber on their smartphones. As long as you are connected to the internet, you can call anyone from anywhere in the world using the mobile data or Wi-Fi on your smartphone. The best part of Viber is that you don’t have to add your Viber contacts one by one and they get synchronized as soon as you are connected to the internet. However, the only disadvantage of Viber is that it does not allow Video Calls and the registered user name is actually your cell phone number. If you are one of those users who is not interested to share your cell number, this is probably not the app you should opt for.
Tango works almost on the same principle as that of Viber. It also does not require a lengthy registration process. When you turn on the Tango app for the first time, it will use your mobile number as the username and then synchronize the address book of your smartphone to check which of the users are registered to the Tango database. According to the official website of Tango, this registration process is extremely fast and not supposed take more than 5 seconds on an average speed internet service. The same disadvantage can be observed on this app – you cannot protect the privacy of your cell number once you’ve added someone on Tango. You or the other user must have the other’s number saved in the phonebook, or else, communication is not possible through Tango. Since Tango allows Video Calls, it’s also possible to swap the cameras during a conversation.
