Difference Between Disney World and Disneyland
Disney World vs Disneyland
Walt Elias Disney was the co founder of Walt Disney Productions together with his brother Roy Disney. He was an entertainer, animator, screenwriter, producer, and director.
From being an animator he developed characters that have become very popular during the early days and which have entertained people, old and young alike, until today. He introduced Mickey Mouse in the early 1900s which started the Silly Symphony cartoons and other cartoon films and television shows.
In the 1940s the idea of constructing an amusement park encouraged him to develop the concept of Disneyland. It was constructed in Anaheim, California and opened on
July 18, 1955, and was instantly successful. It has two parks and offers classic rides to visitors and features such as the Disney Cruise Line, Walt Disney World, and Adventures by Disney. It was built to be a fantasyland where people can interact, watch, and enjoy their vacation with Disney characters.
The area was too small, though, and actors sometimes wandered through the set of another scene which ruins the fantasy that it tries to create. Disney then decided to build another theme park which was designed to be bigger and offer more than what Disneyland has.
Disney then developed the idea of Disney World. It was designed not to be just a theme park but as a resort with contemporary, Polynesian, wilderness, and other themes to offer their patrons. It has the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow (Epcot) which has the Future World and the World Showcase of exhibits. Another of its four theme parks is the MGM Studios and the Animal Kingdom.
It was constructed in Orlando, Florida on a 47 square mile area and contains the Magic Kingdom, one of its four theme parks. It opened on October 1, 1971, and was equipped with tunnels where actors can move to and from each set without being seen by visitors.
The land area of Disney World is very large compared to that of Disneyland. In Disneyland, one can cover the entire area on foot, but touring Disney World one would need a ride.
Even if it lacks some features of the bigger Disney World, Disneyland offers a more intimate atmosphere because of its smaller size, and some people prefer this. Still, both Disneyland and Disney World never fail to inspire awe in people, especially in children.
