Difference Between Food Processor and Blender
Food Processor vs Blender
The process of preparing food for eating or food preparation entails a variety of methods and tools in mixing ingredients so that one can create food that is not only pleasant to look at but healthy and delicious as well. Most involve heating such as baking, boiling, broiling, frying, roasting, and smoking, but food may also be prepared through drying, brining, pickling, sugaring, grating, basting, salting, and blending.
All these would require the use of certain utensils and appliances such as baking pans, frying pans, mixers, pots and pans, cooking spoons, woks, spatulas, peelers, juicers, blenders, and food processors.
Blenders and food processors are used for similar tasks, that is, to process food into smaller pieces or into a liquid form and to mix them together. Although one can get a combination of both utensils, these two are distinct from each other. A blender is a kitchen utensil or appliance which is also used in laboratories to puree and mix food and other substances. It is suitable for use with liquids, and while it is more commonly used in food preparation, there are blenders which are made for use in laboratories.
A blender is used to crush ice for milkshakes, smoothies, frappucinos, and cocktails. Cooked vegetables, meat, and fruits can be pureed using it, and it is also very useful in mixing powders, granules, and liquids. It is made up of a blending container which is made of glass, plastic, porcelain, or stainless steel; a lid or cover; a detachable blade; and a base which has a motor and controls.
The food processor, on the other hand, is a more versatile kitchen appliance. It can be used for all types of food and liquid. It is best suited for solid food which can either be soft or hard. While a blender has a fixed blade, a food processor has several different types of blades and attachments which can be used interchangeably. These blades produce different sizes and shapes of food. It can be used to chop, slice, or shred vegetables and fruits; to shred cheese; to grind nuts, dried fruits, meat, and spices; to puree fruits and vegetables; to knead dough, and to mix all these ingredients.
While a blender needs an ample amount of water to use properly, a food processor needs little or no water to operate. It is also a bit larger than a blender and is best used for thick mixtures such as mayonnaise.
Summary:
1.A blender is a kitchen appliance that is used to puree and mix food and other substances while a food processor is a kitchen appliance that is used to puree and mix as well as slice, grate, shred, and chop food.
2.A blender needs enough water to use while a food processor needs little or no water.
3.A blender has a fixed blade while a food processor has several different types of blades.
