Difference Between Wart and Corn
Wart vs Corn
More often than not, we are always conscious of what’s growing on the surface our skin. We are always bound to ask and seek the medical attention of skin doctors also known as dermatologists. This is the trend right now as we are geared towards good health and disease prevention such as skin cancer.
Two of the most common skin problems that people always encounter are warts and corns. Let us tackle and see the differences in each of them for us to fully understand them.
Most of the people are confused whether they are having corns or warts. Even doctors are having a difficult time. One thing that can differentiate between these two is that warts are scattered around the body while corns are concentrated on the feet.
A wart’s causative agent is purely the HPV or human papilloma virus. This can be acquired everywhere. When there is a break in the skin, the virus can penetrate causing warts in time. Corns, on the other hand, are caused by too much pressure on the bony prominences of the foot. By wearing tight shoes and by not wearing proper socks, the skin surface of the bony prominences of the foot causes skin pressure. Thus there will be an inadequate blood circulation in the skin which will cause corns.
Warts can be prevented by not sharing the things you always use such as towels, clothes, and anything that can be in contact with the surface of the skin. Warts can also be treated with lasers and with skin creams such as Dermasil and Wart-Off. When in treatment, be sure to cover the wart being treated.
Corns, on the other hand, can be treated by wearing the appropriate length socks with cotton material, wearing properly fitting shoes, avoiding wearing stilettos or high-heeled shoes as this puts pressure on the toes of the foot. Corns are not infectious and safe. Dr. Scholl’s corn pads relieve the pressure on the corns so they can be used to relieve the pain.
Summary:
1.Warts are caused by HPV while corns are caused by pressure on the bony prominences of the skin with direct contact and pressure upon walking or standing.
2.Warts are transmissible and can be transmitted to others when there’s an open wound or a break in the skin while corns are not.
3.Warts can be found all over the body while corns can only be found on the foot.
