Difference Between Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit

Holy Ghost vs Holy Spirit

The very first translation of the King James Version of the Bible was in 1611. “Holy Ghost” and “Holy Spirit” are considered synonymous in modern times and were both used in the King James Version in many instances after being translated from Greek. It was not until so much later when the “Holy Spirit” was used in most Bible translations to primarily signify the third person in the Holy Trinity after the Father and the Son.

The differences are actually in linguistics rather than in a theological sense. The confusion is mainly due to past usage versus present usage and because of the different languages that were incorporated into the modern English language. For example, the word “ghost” is derived from the Old English word “gast” which is closely related to the German word “geist.” In modern English, the word “gast” sneaked into the word “aghast” which means “to be terrified, shocked, or rendered breathless.” Also, the German word “Zeitgeist” directly means “the spirit of times.”

Modern English users rarely use “Holy Ghost” nowadays. According to Bible students, the title “Holy Ghost” was learned from the Authorized Version, the other name for the KJV. The KJV used the title “Holy Spirit” rarely. But with the most recent translations of the Holy Scriptures, the title “Spirit” is used to replace “Ghost” in almost all instances. This came about mainly due to the fact that words do not always hold their true meanings. In the days of King James or Shakespeare, “ghost” meant the live essence of a person which could also be connected to “soul” or “breath” and were considered to be synonymous to “ghost.” In those times, “spirit” was used when pertaining to the departed essence of a person or a paranormal demonic apparition.

In the Middle Ages, the English Bible was transcribed by Christian translators using different words for a Greek word to signify that there are two distinctions. These translators decided that the “Holy Spirit” and the “Holy Ghost” were two entirely different ideas. “Holy Spirit” was used as a description of the Spirit of the Lord, or God’s Spirit, that visited the Hebrew people in the Old Testament. On the other hand, the term “Holy Ghost” was used as a description of the third person or spirit in the Holy Trinity.

In the 6th century, printers of the Bible used capital letters to make a strong distinction between the titles using lower case for “spirit” in the Old Testament and “Spirit” in the New Testament. These differences in translation are not based on the original Greek or Hebrew words. The Greek “pneuma” is used for “ghost” and “hagion” for “holy.” These words were combined as “hagion pneuma” in all instances which have been translated to English as “Ghost” or “Spirit” greatly depending on the interpretation of the translator.

In the Bible, the title “Holy Ghost” was used 90 times in the New Testament of the KJV while “Holy Spirit” appears 4 times. The context of the New Testament usage was from a prophetic point of view. The Bible translators were consistent in retaining the contextual distinction between the many forms of “spirit,” such as “Spirit of the Lord” and “Spirit of God.”

In the 17th century, however, the word “ghost” was synonymous to “spirit.” The Bible translators used both words to stress differences between the ideas of the spirit of God and the third part of the Trinity in the Old Testament. Eventually, though, the word “ghost” was used to pertain to the soul of a departed person and became a scary and eerie being that haunts people. In modern times, all the Bible translations, except for the King James Version, use “Holy Spirit” in all instances including those that the KJV called as the “Holy Ghost.”

Summary:

1.In modern times, the titles “Holy Ghost” and “Holy Spirit” are considered synonymous.

2.The differences in the usage of “Holy Ghost” and “Holy Spirit” are mostly due to the nuances of the English language affected by the incorporation of words from other languages.

3.In the Middle Ages, the title “Holy Spirit” was used to describe or pertain to God’s Spirit or the Spirit of the Lord, whereas “Holy Ghost” was used to describe the third person in the Holy Trinity.

4.Although based on the Greek words “pneuma hagion,” the translations for “Holy Ghost” and “Holy Spirit” greatly depended on the translator’s understanding and interpretation of the context.

5.In modern times, almost all of the translations of the Bible, except the King James Version, use “Holy Spirit” for all instances.

  1. For many people a useful meaning of the word “spirit” signifies the overall “attitude” of a person, place, or thing. i.e. The spirit of Christmas. The spirit of baseball. The spirit of America. The spirit of St Louis, etc.

Likewise, the word “ghost” (i.e. soul) could be more useful when understanding and applying the word to include the overall “personality” of an individual, i.e. emotions, will, desires, etc.

    • When i got saved i recieved gods spirit and it is holy but later i recieved the holy ghost the power of god.you dont give a child the keys to a car and tell the to go to the store not it reaches a certain age.the same with the holy ghost when you reach a certain maturity you will recieve the holy ghost.the holy ghost is sanaminous with power.

      • The we do a diligent search of the Bible it teaches us that when we receive the Holy Ghost that we receive the Spirit of Jesus not a third person in the doctrine of the trinity. The doctrine of the trinity was formulated by Tertullian c 155 – 240Ad I will not leave you comfortles I will come unto you. Read John 14 17:18

      • You received 2 spirits? The Spirit of God when you were young? Then as you matured you received the Holy Ghost?
I humbly disagree. There is only one Spirit.
        John 4:24
“God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”
‭‭ When you receive the Holy Ghost you receive the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
John 14:17 “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.”
        ‭‭

      • that’s a lie,The Holy Ghost isn’t about age!

      • THANK You. THE excellence of THE KJV in diferentiating attributes and works apart from wisely chosen Name given to *GOD* THE Holy *GHOST HIMSELF*is, awesome. Even both Spirit and GHOST in THE same verse AT times. Billios of spirits, ONLY ONE HOLY *GHOST* and humility marks so thoroughly.
THE protocols of Heaven are so lovely. In that day ye shall ask *ME* nothing. Ye shall ask THE *FATHER* in my Name. Through THE Holy *GHOST, WHO* is given to them that obey THE WORD. Wescott and Hort, figured in much corruption as were Rome bent.

    • Ghost = spirit + soul
so Holy ghost is the third person of trinity
Holy spirit = spirit of God = the power of God

    • After 46 years of feeding on the WORD I have seen that when not directly the Holy GHOST saying or addressing something, where word Ghost is used but rather describing or attributing something too or revealing something about the Person of the Holy GHOST, the KJV uses Spirit. Instance:Luke 11:13 kjv is encouraging one to ask, acknowledging a need specifically maybe Rev 1:4, 3;1, 4:5, 5:6. Whereas the Holy GHOST is all in all. Zechariah 4:6. Our terminus for prayer is given us in Matthew 6:9 in fellowship designated 1 John 1:3. . Whereas the Holy Ghost communes the Throne`s `spirit of truth` to us, not seducing us from our *LORD*as evil spirits do, not drawing attention to Himself but to the *WORD*.Ps 138:2. Praise *GOD* for the grace of our *LORD JESUS* 2 Cor 13:14. Ps 66:2 🙂

  2. Was a big help

    • Believe it not. The Bible says that God is a Spirit. It also says Christ in you the hope of glory. It also says if a man has not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. When you receive the Holy Ghost you receive the Spirit of Christ.

  3. It’s also worth noting that in Latin, Spanish, French, Italian, etc.; the word for “Spirit” has always been used for Holy Spirit.

In Latin “The Holy Spirit” is called “et Spiritus Sancti”

  4. Extremely helpful! Thank you so much!

  5. The Holy Spirit is de really state of God not ghost since ghost is de spirit of a dead person.

    • Still yo saying a “ghost is a spirit” of a dead… Yo agreeying to the synonymousity of the words u would have said Ghost is a ghost of a dead person.

    • The holy ghost is the personality who can only dwell in those who beleived and received Jesus. Holy Spirit is the spirit of God which came on Mary to conceive Jesus. The Holy Ghost is the permanent presence of Jesus as a resurrected body in you. John 14/20, Revelation 3/20.

      • I have read many interpretations ore doctrines about the Holy Ghost ore the Holy Spirit.

They all use excuses of language interpretations , understanding of some well known story ore what ever they can find to ignore the truth.

From the time of Abraham they gave up the ghost when they died. Why not the spirit?

It is clear they knew the differance in a ghost and a spirit. That is before the messiah came. There is a differance between the ghost and a spirit and the bible states it throughout the Old and New Testament. Do you think they were idiots in there own languages that we know better today?

If there is a Angel of God and a Angel of the LORD, ore a Son of God and a son of God , ore the LORD and the Lord , ore a LORD God and a LORD thy God , ore a Seraphim and a Cherubim , i can go on and on…..

The Holy Ghost was rejected by the fathers of old times just like the Jews did when they crucified Jesus Christ.

The Holy Ghost came over Mary and that thing been born shall be called the Son of God and Named JESUS.

The Holy Ghost is only mentioned in the New Testamen for a reason!!!

Been baptised with the Holy Ghost and fire is not a baptism onto repentance, it is a baptism unto death!!! Why?

The words “Son of God” is only mentioned once in the Old Testament:

        Daniel 3: 24 – 25
24 Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonished, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.
25 He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

You see, the Son of God is a fiery figure in a form of a Angel.
The most high ranked Angel is a Seraphim, a Angel of fire and the Angel of God.
Also the fiery serpent on the cross, when looked upon, and be healed in the desert as a simble of what to come.
Also as the burning Bush that was not consumed and the pillar of fire at night.
Also the fiery figure before the tabernacle, when Moses spoke to the LORD face to face.

Matthew 28:19-20 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.

The lake of fire and brimstone is the second death. Hell is the first death . Just like the Angel of God protected those 3 persons in the fire , been baptised with the Holy Ghost and fire you shall be superior unto the first and second death.

The Holy Ghost was rejected , not the Holy spirit from the beginning. In the day God created man , in the likeness of God made he him; male and female created he them and called them Adam!!!

Adam was male and female, the heavenly man created by God.
The man formed from dust by LORD God because there was no man to till the ground was male only. The earthy man who was alone.

Now think for yourself , out of wich man was his other half taken and a woman made to be a help meat for who?

To help the man who was alone and as meat (perpouse) for the man she was taken from.

        • May God bless you throughout your journey with Him, thank you Jesus for blessing me with you. You are on point and I appreciate your studies. Praise God thank you Jesus, thank you blessed Holy Spirit, thank you Holy GGGhost. Amen. Selah…

    • It is the Spirit of Christ Jesus.
Col 1:27 KJV “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”
‭‭The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of a departed one. Praise God for the truth. Here O Isreal the Lord our God is One Lord. Not 3 in one.

  6. I’m still researching on this. This doesn’t all the way collide with me. When the KJV was written, which I read from others as well, I found that the Scholars whom transpose the KJV into English from Greek and Hebrew, they all came together in unity and prayed to decide which English word would be the closest to each word they translated. The Holy Ghost, I’m thinking wasn’t mention till after Jesus resurrected. I doing more research on trying to find out why the Scholars used Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit. When Jesus came to earth, He was the Holy Spirit, God’s Son. After Jesus came back to Earth, when he arose on the third day, The Holy Ghost was among them when He ascended back to Heaven. Jesus became the gate way to God. They are all one, yes. God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Ghost or Holy Spirit; Before Resurrection and after. Does this mean, That God Is the Holy Spirit? When we go through our Savior to reach God, We really need to go through the Holy Ghost? The tittle Ghost is from someone whom already passed over. This would make sence to me for Jesus to now be the Holy Ghost. When we become saved through Jesus Christ, we keep the Holy Spirit, God, in our Heart. I believe when we receive miracles or even feel his strong presence at times stronger than average, wouldn’t this be called The Holy Ghost. Holy Ghost can come and go and the Holy Spirit stays with us? Like I said, I’m still doing research on this.

    • You got it wrong holy spirit can come and go holy ghost it is within us and never leaves us or forsakes US

    • Thank you for your answer but if this is the case why in Psalms 51/11 David mentioned the Holy Ghost?

      • In the days of old the Holy Spirit it is the power every one uses that’s why every one was depending on directions, even now when you have only the Holy Spirit u are not matured to preach , to fast to even mary because the holy fire as the Holy Ghost which is the Authority has not baptized you with the fire, so when you have power without Authority there is nothing you can do until you have both the power and authority before you can move anywhere, in the days of old the Holy Spirit is the one that direct us from bad to good because we were under law as son’s of Power but in your maturity the Holy Spirit invites the Holy Ghost into you so then u will no more be under any law

    • Ask God to reveal this mystery to you.
      Read Acts 2:38 KJV
“To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.”
      ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬

“And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.”
      ‭‭1 Timothy‬ ‭3:16‬ ‭KJV‬‬

    • Jesus only started to do wonder and teaching once he was baptised with water and repentance by John the Baptist. Only than the Spirit of God came down on him and than he received all power from his Father in heaven.
He had no earthy Father like John had. The same fiery spirit of Elijah that put the mark of God on John from his mothers womb , became flesh wich is the Son of God through a virgin , meaning no earthy father.

The same pillar of fire in front of the tabernacle, the same burning bush on the mountain and the same fiery figure King Nebikatnesser saw in the fiery furnes with the 3 he cast into it and no harm came over them. The King himself said , the fourth figure looked like the Son of God.

That would be the Holy Ghost and fire that came over Mary and that thing been born shall be called the Son of God and named JESUS.
Know as Emmanuel, meaning God with us and not God is us.

      • Jesus Christ our God did not used the Holy Ghost but the Holy Spirit because he manifested to as a son ,and son’s of God are those that has power but without Authority but after his departure he came residing in us as God which he came with Authority. Days of old the God head was (Father+son+holy spirit) The God head are (son+Holy Spirit+Father) so now we are no more son’s we are the Father

  7. Ghost is entity from the dead….. Jesus is Risen so the Comforter he sent to us is the Holy Spirit

  8. So much helpful. Thank you

  9. I grew up reading the King James version Bible and recently started using the NKJV. I have both versions on my phone as I use KJV for my morning devotion and the NKJV my Midday Meditation and at our church. I have had my encounter with God over 1 year now and in my church it is referred to as receiving the Holy Spirit. It is an experience that cannot be adequately described with words. You have to have this experience for yourself to understand. However, Having the Holy Spirit you must have, live, be a living testimony of the 9 Characteristics that is defined in the Bible of having the Characters of Jesus. see Galatians 5: 22-23
KJV John 3 vs 5 States: Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say to unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the Kingdom of God.
My neighbor and I have been at odds recently in regard to what is the Holy Spirit and what is the Holy Ghost. I told her it was just a matter of translation and oh my! it almost cost us 5 years of friendship, peace and harmony of living on the same apartment complex, I have visited her church she has visited my church. After 3 weeks has passed and we are have let by gones be by gones, well so I thought, in her quest to be “Correct” I was told not less than and hour ago that when you receive the Holy Ghost you are able to speak in Tongues.
If you are not able to speak in Tongues at least one Time then you have not received the Holy Ghost, she further explained that speaking in Tongues is the assurance that you have the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is what allows one to speak in Tongues other that those who were specifically given the Gift of Tongues.
So I said I have spoken in Tongues only once. And she said, that was all I needed to confirm that I had the Holy Ghost. As the Holy Spirit is the Comforter sent by God, but in order to Heal and cast out demons etc as Paul and Jesus’ Disciples you must have the Holy Ghost.

However, knowing that I have the Holy Spirit and that i am living and being Faithful to God in all ways, not just in my Tithes. I am happy in Christ. Holy Spirit or Holy Ghost. I have researched and researched and I keep getting the same answers. It is just a matter of Translation from the Original written language. I only want to serve God, win souls for the Kingdom of Heaven and help to keep Satan kingdom empty and have a continual feast in heaven. Strive to be filled with the Holy Spirit/Ghost. It is a must. It is a new Life. It is what Jesus says you are to have. When you receive the this you will understand why Jesus said what he said. You think Like Jesus, you handle Problems Like Jesus, you forgive, love, be at peace through all adversity like Jesus did. Most of all, you are humble like a child. Not Weak. But Stong and Humble.

    • Great bro.. soul lifting.. God bless you.

    • John 3:5 The ‘Spirit’ here is the Spirit of God in which without it you can’t enter the kingdom of God.

Acts 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Holy Ghost here is God the Holy Ghost that’s the third person in Trinity

      Thank you Maxine!

    • If i may, the word ghost in Hebrew and the word spirit in Hebrew.

      Yod Hey = Vav Hey
      Water = Blood
      Spirit = ghost
      Masculine = feminine
      Cherubim = Sheraphim
      Angels = flaming sword

Try it in hebrew , it is quite interesting.

    • Words aptly spoken from the WORD of God…Holy Spirit YOU are welcome here! I’m worshipping God in SPIRIT and in Truth. He is the way, the truth and the life… FOLLOWING HIM

  10. Luke 4:1
Then Jesus being filled with the Holly Spirit returned from The Jordan and was led by Spirit into the wilderness, there’s no any need to discuss the difference between Holly Spirit and Holly ghost again Ghost is entity from dead. And in ghost is devilish. Thanks.

  11. My daughter and I have been at odds over the Holy Ghost argument. I say
When I was baptized, I received the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. She says if I don’t receive the Holy Spirit, I will be denied Heaven. Please try to explain what I am missing.

  12. This is a very controversial topic. The Holy Ghost is in reference to Jesus and his disciples aka The Comforter. John 14:26; John 15:26; John 16:7.

John 7:37-39, here, Jesus is speaking to his disciples of spiritual things, most likely they, at that time did not understand. Because the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because Jesus was not yet glorified.

John 16:7, Jesus is clearly telling his disciples. that he must ascend back to the havens with his Father.
He clearly states that, his ascension has to take place, for his Father, to give him the gift of the Holy Ghost, which he would in turn send to his disciples.

John 14:26, Jesus explains to his disciples the abilities they will have, once the Holy Ghost aka The Comforter, has been sent to them. This is so that Christ and the work of Christ can be glorify.

The Holy Spirit is from Jesus’s Heavenly Father, whose capabilities are infinite, who controls everything in the heavens and the earth. He is the hierarchy 1 Corinthians 15:24-28. John 3: 34, For he whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.

Matthew 3:11, here, John the Baptize, is telling his disciples that he baptize with water, unto repentance, but Jesus will baptize with the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 3:16-17 here the scriptures tells us as Jesus came up out of the water from, John’s Baptism, the Heavens were open and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove upon him.

The Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Truth, I believe are the same. I believe these two titles are referring to GOD our Heavenly Father. John 14:17; John 15:26; John 16:13.

I strongly believe, as the scriptures tell us, Jesus is the only door that leads to our Heavenly Father. And when one walks thru that door, we become one. We all are united by means of The Holy Ghost(Jesus) and The Holy Spirit(GOD, JEHOVAH, ALLAH etc.) We become one in our understanding of the Holy Scriptures, We are all reading the same Bible, but yet, our understanding of what we are reading is not in unity. But once we have receive the Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit; all truth will be revealed and we will be guided by truth. Because Jesus and God our Heavenly Father will reside in us forever. John 14:16-20

  13. Several people here say Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit are the same thing. Others say the Holy Ghost is something of the devil. How can they be the same thing? Why do they still use both words in the same sentence such as in Acts? They use Holy Ghost and Holy Spirit in the same sentence. How are we supposed to believe there is no Holy Ghost? The deciles had already been baptized by John and already had the Holy Spirit. When they went to Pentecost they were told not to leave because they had not yet received the Holy Ghost! Does it sound like someone is trying to change God’s word, and why?

  14. When we remember the spirit of God asked the disciples to go a room that the holy ghost will descend on.whc lead to the speaking of divers of tongues.and the we’re drunk in the spirit.the are both differences they operate differently bcos one is the spirit of God and one is the fire

  15. God is not divided.
GOD THE FATHER, GOD THE SON, GOD THE HOLY GHOST, IS ONE GOD. THE BIBLE SAYS IT IS A MYSTERY.

READ 1 COR. 12:3. I BELIEVE THE WORDS SPIRIT AND GHOST ARE USED INTERCHANGEABLY.

THERE WILL ALWAYS BE SOMETHING ABOUT THE BIBLE WE AS INDIVIDUALS CAN DISAGREE ABOUT.

PEOPLE CAN SAY THEY SPEAK FOR GOD –
BUT, THE BIGGER PICTURE IS BEING BORN AGAIN.
HAVE YOU ACCEPTED JESUS AS YOUR LORD AND SAVIOR – HAVE YOU RECEIVED HIS HOLY SPIRIT/GHOST WHO BEARS WITNESS WITH YOUR SPIRIT CONFIRMING THAT YOU NOW BELONG TO GOD – AND EMPOWERING YOU TO LIVE RIGHTEOUSLY BEFORE GOD AND WALK HUMBLE WITH GOD.

LET’S MOVE ON TO THE DEEPER THINGS IF GOD –

  16. You need the Holy Spirit and maybe holy ghost I read it in a baptism somewhere you recieve it ask Jesus and he will give it to you in power and the comforter age age 8 or past the age of 8

  17. Jesus is alive therefore He has no
    ghost.we believe

a ghost is as a result of a dead.

  18. The OT only used “Holy Spirit” and the first time “Holy Ghost” is used is in the NT (Matt 1:18). The Holy Spirit is a continual moniker of the spirit of God in the OT. The difference between the Holy Spirit and the Holy Ghost is simply this: A spirit does not require a bodily vessel, whereas, the ghost must be conjoined to a body. The reason why Jesus, Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, and others are said to have given up the ghost, is because their spirit was attached to their body. A spirit by itself is just a spirit. A spirit inhabiting a body is a ghost.

So, in relevance to the Believer, we are possessed by the ghost of a risen savior: The HOLY Ghost. He indwells believers at the moment of belief in the Lord Jesus Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection for salvation. The Holy Ghost also fills believers (you can quench the spirit). It is important to note that the Holy Ghost is a person, has a personality, and is a He. He is very much alive ever guiding and teaching us. He is not a force, power, or some object as some misunderstand the Scriptures.

Moving on, the Holy Ghost is also known as the “Comforter” as referred to in John 14:26 – “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” When Jesus Christ gave up the ghost at Cavalry, died, and resurrected, he informed his disciples that he must depart that he might send his ghost to us: John 16:7 – “Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.” When Jesus ascended into Heaven, the Holy Ghost was able to be sent and reside in us Believers. The SAME spirit that was in Christ now resides in us… That is how we know that Christ is in us. Col 1:27 – “To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:”

  19. I believe that the Spirit of God is of the Father the Creator/ The Holy Spirit is what we receive when we Trust Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior and the Holy Ghost is what happens to us when we are Truly Born Again .we receive Power ( Many are called but few are chosen) .

  20. From the beginning holly spirit was from God and ghost is from ancestors .

    1 Corinthians 3 verse 16 to 17

God shall destroy whoever spoils his temple

  21. Thank you for helping me understand the difference between the Holy Ghost the Holy Spirit I actually believe that they both represent the say the third person in the Godhead

  22. The holy spirit leads through the word of God. While the Holy ghost dwells and confirmed the word of God with power in those that received him. John 6:63
