Difference Between HTC Incredible S and Desire S
HTC Incredible S vs Desire S
The Incredible S and the Desire S are just minor updates to devices with the same respective names sans S. Aside from updated processors and GPU, there isn’t much new to both phones. As the Incredible S still maintains its higher price point, it is expected to have better features. To begin with, the Incredible S has a slightly larger 4-inch screen compared to the Desire S’ 3.7-inch screen. Other aspects of the screens are identical; including the resolution (480×800), colors (16M), and type (S-LCD).
Another difference between the Incredible S and the Desire S is the camera. The Incredible S sports higher resolution sensors in both the main and secondary cameras. The actual specs for the Incredible S cameras are 8 megapixels for the main camera and 1.3 megapixels for the secondary. On the other hand, the Desire S has 5 megapixels and 0.3 megapixels respectively. There is no difference when it comes to video recording as both phones are capable of recording at 720p.
One neat trick that the Incredible S can do is to rotate the soft keys at the bottom of the screen when using the phone in landscape mode. The change in orientation doesn’t really affect the usability of the device or the functions of each key. It simply makes it aesthetically pleasing to see that the buttons are oriented properly. The Desire S cannot do this.
Lastly, there is a minor difference when it comes to the operating systems. The Desire S ships with the latest version of Android, which is Gingerbread (2.3) while the Incredible S ships with the slightly older Froyo (2.2). The Incredible S is upgradeable to Gingerbread once the official release comes from HTC. In the end, this is inconsequential. But it is worth noting for Incredible S users that they should update their handsets to Gingerbread once it becomes available.
Summary:
1.The Incredible S has a bigger screen than the Desire S.
2.The Incredible S has a higher resolution camera than the Desire S.
3.The Incredible S soft keys can change orientation while the Desire S’ cannot.
4.The Desire S ships with Gingerbread while the Incredible S ships with Froyo.
