Difference Between HP WebOS TouchPad and Android Motorola Xoom
HP WebOS TouchPad vs Android Motorola Xoom
The HP TouchPad and the Motorola Xoom are just two of the many tablet devices that are available for many users. The main difference between the two is the network that they can work with. The Xoom is a CDMA device that is intended for Verizon and would not work with GSM networks. On the other hand, although it is not confirmed yet, all indications point to the TouchPad as a GSM device which is better because GSM is widely used all over the world. Without one or the other, you can still use both devices as both are equipped with WiFi.
Another major difference is in the operating system. The Xoom uses the now very familiar Android OS while HP is delving into software with WebOS. If you want a tried and tested system, then Android is the way to go. But for those who want something new, they can try the WebOS; although there is no guarantee of the features or bugs that it would have or if it would have a wide array of applications.
The camera is another area where the Xoom beats the TouchPad. The Xoom has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera that can capture high-resolution stills and 720p resolution video. There is also a front-facing 2 megapixel camera for video calling. The TouchPad only has a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling. Those who want to take pictures need to make do and be creative with the front-facing camera.
The Xoom has an HDMI port that can be used to connect to an HD monitor for streaming images and HD-quality video. Since the TouchPad doesn’t have any HD capability, an HDMI port would be pretty much useless. A nice feature that is available on the TouchPad and other HP products is Touchstone. This allows the TouchPad to recharge without being wired in; just placing the device on the contactless dock initiates the charge.
Summary:
1.The TouchPad is a GSM device while the Xoom is a CDMA device.
2.The TouchPad runs HP’s own WebOS while the Xoom uses Google’s Android.
3.The Xoom has better cameras than the TouchPad.
4.The Xoom is capable of HD video recording while the TouchPad isn’t.
5.The Xoom has an HDMI port while the TouchPad doesn’t.
6.The TouchPad has Touchstone technology which the Xoom doesn’t.
