Album and EP refers to the collection of music tracks. Music lovers have heard more of Album than EP or Extended Play. Album is unique whereas Extended Play can be said to be a part of Album.
Album usually refers to a collection of music tracks, without any format. Albums are usually seen n forms of tape, vinyl record, CD and digitally. EP is also an audio/video presentation released in form of compact disc, DVD, vinyl record or electronic file suitable for downloading.
One of the main differences that can be seen between Album and EP is in number of songs that can be accommodated. An album may contain about 12 to 19 songs whereas an Extended Play has only five to nine songs.
Extended Play is considered good for budding up bands, who wish to create a full length Album in the near future. An EP can be used to promote a budding up artist’s music.
Extended Play is a new format in the music world when compared to other forms like the LP. It was in the 1980’s that Extended Play got popular. EP normally includes two or three songs from the most recent album of an artist, coupled with
Songs including live versions, unreleased tracks, demo recordings or remixes. Album originated in the early 1900’s. Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite is considered to be the first Album produced.
One can also see that the Album and the EP differs in their spin. Most of the Extended Play spins at 45 RPM whereas an album spins at a speed of 33 1/3 RPM.
When comparing the cost of the two, Albums cost more than the Extended Play.

“An album may contain about 12 to 19 songs whereas an Extended Play has only five to nine songs.” Those are dicey definitions at best…it should have been made clear they are ballpark numbers only. So if I have 10 songs, I guess I’m screwed? 🙂
